Why is that? machida took a step in the right direction and is working on his english. He can have a conversation in english now.Meanwhile anderson doesn't give a crap and he wonders why he has no fans.

I'm not going to bother arguing with you, because you seem to be the only person who cares he doesn't speak English and thinks he's got no fans.

If that's what you think so be it.

Edit: Lastly, if you care so much to know what on his mind, why don't you learn Portuguese? I don't see why we need to force someone from another country to learn our native tongue.

You just sound so ignorant. First of all the UFC is going global and Silva is not making his money only off American's money. Many countries purchase the UFC ppv's and a fighter doesn't have to learn English to please ignorant people like yourself. Now I'm 100% sure this thread will go to the smack talk section but you're simply annoying me.

Time to put you on ignore.

Peace

Not EVERYTHING is about PPV numbers, you are taking a very American view here. For some people it isn't about the money, I am sure you would be very happy if Anderson learnt fluent english, wore a baseball cap backwards and dressed like a rapper, However whilst Americanization worldwide is undeniable it doesn't mean that everyone wants to conform to it.

I don't see a reason why ANY fighter should have to learn English, he is in America to fight that is all. Sure some fan interaction would be easier if he could speak the language but it is definitely not required. You have just taken a very narrow view of it all, fighters regularly fight in Japan and are not pressured to learn the language. What makes you think your country is so special that anyone competing in a sport there must speak english.

Amazing interview also, both very very humble guys and both command lots of respect inside and outside the sport.

Do you really think Silva wonders why he has no fans? He could care less, he has his money, and he has a good life with the people he wants to in his country. Sorry that the champion wasn't a good old English speaking American, but its the way she goes.

You're so ignorant, guess what PPV numbers are the ONLY thing that matters and you can actually prove PPV numbers not some nonsense about "oh im sure alot of MMA fans like him"(but clearly not enough to buy his PPVs, lmao).

This sounds exactly like the fedor argument. His PPVs get terrible buys too, then out of the woodworks his fans come out and say oh its not about PPV buys.

Yeah right, I think thats a load of shit.If you can't prove it don't even bother.

Anderson has a pretty reasonable following, his PPV buys are not massive but they are not small either. Why does a fighter always have to be super popular. Anderson has proved a HUGE amount, he has dominated more in the UFC than anyone ever has. He has a sizable fan base, and is champion of a division and stacking title defenses.

I was more so attacking your ignorant "Anderson needs to learn English comments"

I think if Anderson really wanted to have a huge cult following in America, he would learn English, do a rap with Snoop Dog, talk shit about his opponent pre fight, flip off UFC sponsors and generally do more outlandish things to get himself in the headlines.

However he does none of the above, he comes he fights, he kicks the shit out of everyone, dances around in the ring a bit, then post fight he is respectful to his opponent. He upholds a good image for the sport and seems to be a friendly guy. I don't think he cares that he lacks PPV buys he is in the tail end of his career now, almost everything has been accomplished. He is such a good fighter that he doesn't need to talk shit in the media to gain hype, it just happens when people watch him fight.
