Cain Velasquez v. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Moved To UFC 109
Former UFC interim heavyweight champion and mixed martial arts legend, Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, is expected take on undefeated rising star Cain Velasquez at UFC 109, which is slated for Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Feb. 6, 2010.
Nogueira and and Velasquez were supposed to hook 'em up in the UFC 108 main event on Jan. 2, 2010; however; "Big Nog" came down with a serious case of staph infection, which forced him to withdraw from the bout. source : bloodyelbow Glad to see this is back on, cant wait for this one, nog takes it via submission :thumb02: |
That's pretty soon. I don't think Nog will be 100%, but... Nog via submission. :thumb02:

well at least this is something - looking forward to this fight. If Nog is cleared of his staph infection now I think he should show up in Feb very well

i like this matchup altho i dont think it's as safe for my boy Cain as a JDS one is, i think we will learn alot of Cain this fight and win or lose he will come out with a better understanding of what it takes to fight the true elite, where he stands and what it will take to keep on the journey, i look forward to it.

This is a bad match up for Cain he is going to have a REALLY hard time putting away Nog, sure he is good at overwhelming fighters but he doesn't have the KO power (well hasn't showed it anyways)
Unless Nog's chin is really not that good anymore. He did good against Randy but ya know. I hope his chin is good still and it was just a case of Staph/Mir's improved standup. Somewhere down the line I do want to see a Mir Nog II. |
mmajunkie are reporting its moved to 110:

I still think they should try and get Velasquez to fight JDS at 108 instead, that card needs a top 10 HW to fight JDS in order to make it appealing.
|
I see Nog winning this no matter where the fight goes. Cain's top game isn't good enough to avoid Nog's epic sub game. Stand up wise, Nog definitely has the skills to hang with him until he wants to land the takedown. Either way, should be a good one.

Im a huge Cain fan, but I just dont think he brings anything to the table that Nog hasnt seen plenty of times before. Nog has decent takedown defense and had zero problems sweeping Randy in his last fight, who is similar in size to Cain with better wrestling and ten times more well rounded mma skills. Nog will probably finish him with a sub within two minutes of this hitting the mat.

It could just be the calibre of competition. I guess we find out this fight:thumbsup: |
