Shogun Rua confirms Lyoto Machida rematch; Still waiting to sign for May 1 fight

Quoteworthy:

"I'm just going to start the preparation and let’s go there. The UFC has already confirmed with my manager that I will fight Lyoto again. It’s just missing to sign the contract but the verbal agreement is done. I still don’t think whether I will follow the same strategy rather than the formerly one. I’m going to sit down with the team to map it out. This rematch is much wished because it’s a title shot for the world championship. It’s my biggest interest. I’m sure worried to achieve my dream and the revenge comes on the second plan. I was choked for that loss against him, but Machida has no blame. The judges are the guilty who were the only three people in the world that understood he won the fight."

Shogun Rua reveals that UFC has confirmed his rematch against Lyoto Machida on May 1, 2010, which is expected to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It's more than six months from their original controversial encounter; however, "The Dragon" needs time to recover from surgery he underwent a couple of days after their first match. Shogun, meanwhile, plans to start his training camp as soon as possible. Advantage Shogun?

I think Shogun has an advantage regardless of Machida's surgery. He should come out aggressively like he used to in PrideFC and set the pace to the fight. That way, Machida wouldn't be able to use his elusive style and Shogun could drop him say... in the 2nd round. Plus, the Montreal crowd loves Shogun

Has anybody read about an update on the Machida injury?
I don't belive that it is so serious. I think he can start training a lot earlier then the media says. The only thing Lyoto needs to do is to work out a great Gameplan with his buddy Anderson Silva. He will teach him how to handle this guy

then you might wanna change dates, also yeah I do think Shogun has an advantage as he will be starting his training a lot earlier, which makes a huge impact.

Anybody think Shogun will finish it this time? He looked surprisingly fresh in the championship rounds. I think it was almost a respect sort of thing, even though Machida was clearly gassed and battered he didn't use his killer instinct to finish him off at the later rounds. I guess he figured that the judges weren't smoking some serious Dutch shit and didn't want to risk going full steam ahead. I doubt he'll hesitate to finish this time. Shogun via KO in the final fourth or fifth round.
