The HW picture

If Cain beats Nog then arguably he has one of the best HW UFC records. If would seem absurd if they still gave the shot to Carwin with his record looking so bare of quality. Carwin has to fight a seriously top guy to keep up. Mir, Kongo, Nog and Cain are all taken. Assuming Brock isn't ready to fight till after Cain vs Nog then why should Carwin get the shot? He's out of viable opponents. I don't get it.

Your thoughts?

Well we still don't when Brock will make his comeback. So for example if he comes back in Spring 2010 or later, they should make the Fight between Carwin and Cain. The winner gets the shot.

That would leave Carwin twiddling thumbs for far too long. The Gonzaga fight feels like forever ago.

I think Carwin should take on Brock if he recovers till may-july, something like that.
But if not, he needs to fight someone, he can't wait to much.
I think Nog, Cain or JDS are all good matchups for him.

.

BELIEVE!

Yea but that's what i am trying to say. Carwin needs to fight somebody before he actually can take on Lesnar. Because if Lesnar comes back in late Spring 2010, it would be a year for Carwin without a fight. So after Cain beats Nog the fight between Carwin should be very soon after he won. Maybe a month or give him two but not more.

But the best thing would be to cancel the fight between Cain and Nog and schedule Carwin vs. Cain.

Make Cain vs Big Nog an interim title match if necessary, & with gonzaga out make Carwin fight Cigano.

I noticed that Carwin was saying on twitter a couple of days that he expects to fight either the winner of Velasquez - Big Nog, or Brock Lesnar next. I think that's wishful thinking, the UFC won't put him on the shelf for that length of time - particularly during the current injury crisis.

I was just saying in an article that if Mir can get a quick submission victory over Kongo then he could possibly fight Carwin in February / March.

Dos Santos is definitely a good option under the circumstances. The catch is that Carwin is recovering from a knee injury and won't be back until February. JDS is currently scheduled to fight on the UFC 108 card on Jan 2nd, and they might need to keep him there since they are short on fighters for that event.

I think Dos Santos Vs Ben Rothwell could work for UFC 108 if necessary.

If Cain beats Nog, I will thoroughly admit that I was wrong and that Cain is a force to be reconned with. As of now, I simply haven't been too impressed.

Yeah I agree with the Junior "Cigano" dos Santos match up although I would think they want to bring Junior up a little slower as he looks like a great prospect but getting in there with Cawin can only help him impove win or lose.

Although with 107 coming up if Mir can win and have a quick turn around you could have him fight Carwin although I don't think 1 win would justify Mir fighting the number 1 contender but hay this is the UFC. I would rather the Junior match up

Chances make Champion's....Champion's take chances
