When he moves up to middleweight he wont have the huge size and strength advantage that he has over most guys at welterweight. He should stay at welterweight while he develops his game and wait to move up until he becomes a little more well rounded. He would get eaten alive by guys like Franklin, Nate, Sonnen, Silva, Okami, Belcher, BIsping, and Hendo (if he comes back). Those guys are all good sized and well rounded.
Interestingly enough most of those fighters all have fought at 205...hehe. These days it's ultra competitive. Guess AJ needs all the advantage he can get.

Royce Gracie said it best. Before it was "style vs style." Now it's "athlete vs athlete."

I like him at 170, but I think 185 is probably better. Sherdog Fight Finder lists him at 6'2, so he's not short for 185, and he will still be powerful. Also, 185 has less "technical" wrestlers than at 170, so I think he can compensate with strength and speed.

The thing we don't know much about is his submission defense, though, except for the fact that he got submitted by Koscheck.

What a stud
