Earning there stripes

So basically I have a question and I'll give my opinion. I'm wondering wether you think Dana and Joe Silva have some kind of ranking system or a ladder like in squash that fighters have to work their way through or up because I have seen some fighters recently given title shots when maybe they didnt deserve them. For Example:
1.Shogun beat Coleman and Liddel after losing to Forrest. I know he went on to in many peoples eyes beat machida but was he really deserving of that shot, I don't know.
2.Diego Sanchez beat Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson, that doesn't seem to deserving.
3.Dan Hardy 3 descisions, 2 split only one win against a top 10 opponent.
4.I only leave Belfort out because he is a legend and rich Franklin is a legit opponent who Anderson beat in the second and Vitor beat in the first.

To me this doesn't seem logical, I know we always want to see the champs fighting but it would be nice to see some guys work their way through the roster before a shot at a title. So I ask you this are the UFC giving away title shots to seel ppv's, build fighter profiles and build the brand or are all these guys really deserving of shots. I don't believe so.

I would like to see a squash ranking type system where you have to move up to get a shot. 3-4 wins is not suffecient for a contender I say 4 if you are a former champion/legend for example Tito, Randy and Chuck.

I will show you an example of my system using the welterweight divison:

1.GSP
2.Thiago Alves
3.Jon Fitch
4.Paul Thiago
5.Josh Koscheck
6.Dan Hardy
7.Paul Daley
8.Mike Swick
9.Martin Kampman
10.Carlos Condit
11. Matt Hughes

These are opinion based but that is beside the point. So basically what im thinking is you have to work your way up the ladder a loss you move down a spot a win you move up. If you stay inacctive you move down the ladder due to others moving up. If you lose a title bout you move down to spot 5 and have to work your way up again. Now this isn't perfect and there is no easy fix but to me it is a little bit of a joke to see guys get unfair title shots. Just my two cents what do you think?

The problem with this is that your champions wouldn't fight near often enough.

I dont usually have a problem with who they have fighting for the titles..and when it comes to who is fighting GSP it doesnt matter because 9/10 they are going to lose, he is on a rampage right now. Other than that what is there to complain about? the best fighters in their respected divisions are the champions right now IMO...everything happens for a reason.
