Jake Rosholt Cut From The UFC

Quote:
Jake Rosholt received the news that every UFC fighter dreads today – that he had been cut from the promotions roster.

Speaking via twitter earlier today he had appeared in good spirits as he headed out to a restaurant for lunch. A few hours later his mood had soured as he revealed, “Not a good day. Just found out I got cut by the #UFC.”

Rosholt suffered the second loss of his UFC career at UFC 106 a little over a week ago when Kendall Grove caught him in a triangle choke in the first round of their undercard bout.

It left him with a precarious 1-2 record in the organization, having previously lost to Dan Miller in his debut, and then bounced back by submitting Chris Leben at UFC 102. That victory also earned him the Submission Of The Night award.

It appears that performance was not enough for the UFC to keep him on the roster after his most recent defeat. With an overall pro record of 6-2, and previous experience in the WEC, it is unlikely that the former wrestler will have difficulty in finding a new promotion to call home. At the age of 27 there is still time for him to take a second run in the UFC in the future if he can get back to winning ways.

Rosholt is the second fighter to be cut after UFC 106, with Brock Larson also being released following his defeat by Brian Foster. Like Rosholt, 32 year old Larson initially joined the UFC after the WEC’s heavier weight divisions were disbanded. He departs with a 2-2 record, leaving him 26-4 in his MMA career to date.

I dont like this cut. The guy was pretty good for a noob and he had faced pretty decent competition since coming to the UFC, Miller, Grove, and Leben are no joke. I think he will make his way back after a few more wins outside of the UFC.

I dont like that either. He had a ton of potential even though he didnt look impressive against Grove, I still thought he was gonna win. Larson had a real bad showing. Too bad for him cause hes really better than that. In WEC he was an animal

Leben sells tickets, Jake Rosholt doesn't. Sad to see it happen, but unfortunately that's the way the business works. He should join Strikeforce.

Yah he probably doesnt deserve to be cut after that loss, while Leben will probably retire in the UFC. But I think he could benefit by having some fights in some smaller shows before fighting in the UFC. He is still pretty new to mma and I think we will see him back again in the UFC after he gets a few more wins on his record.

Yikes. He is a pretty huge 185er with a ton of potential (just like prettymuch all of the other damn wrestlers), just needs to slow down.

At most he will do one "indy" fight, and get gobbled up by strikeforce.
