Chuck Norris would beat Bruce Lee in a MMA match (yes, im serious). Chuck needs to get more respect beyond the silly jokes, he was a REAL world champion multiple times and knows how to fight tournament or points style. Bruce Lee never fought anybody on record that i know of and altho by all accounts he was great, Chuck has proven the ability to prepare and win in REAL judged matches. Chuck has proven wins behind him, Bruce has myths, legends and heresay.
JMO obv, flame away, Chuck is the man, ask Machida ;P
Bruce was somuch faster than chuck though and chuck was a great kickboxer but Bruce was the total package that whas the idea of jkd he knew tkd kicks gung Fu punches judo throws jui jitsu holds andboxing footwork. He is an mma fighter where chuck is a kickboxer
Problem is, he's never fought. His JKD is all nice and dandy, but hes never proven himself. Let me repeat that to you. He's never fought. You're comparing a guy whose done alot of theorycrafting, alot of thinking, and alot of research to a guy whose been a multi world champion. there is no comparison.
The problem with Bruce Lee is that people have a lot of nostalgia and hero worship when they think about him, which is understandable because of his enormous popularity, but you can't be that blind to the truth just because he's been in movies.
This Bruce Lee Vs Chuck Norris arguement is like saying Jackie Chan could beat Anderson Silva. Its plain ridiculous.
I grew up watching old bruce lee movies since I was young in Hong Kong, he was always a hero of mine. You can argue that he single handedly brought kung fu and martial arts to mainstream. He has also brought a lot of relevance to my proud chinese culture...
with that said, I really think bruce lee is way way overhyped on mma forums. I'm sure if he fully trained mma he might be a very good fighter, but the fact is, he didn't and we will never know if how good or bad he would be. Its almost saying how good of a football player lebron would be based off his athletism. There are so many intangibles in mma that there really is no way of predicting or guessing how good he would have been.
In this interview he says it in a strange way:confused02: first he says with a smile on his face that he was a Professional and Bruce wasn't. Then he switches over and has no idea who would win in a real fight. I think he just says that because of bruce lee's legacy and to show the Respect due to him.
Here watch this Video! This is exactly the same thing, i am 100% sure that Bruce lee could have beaten a World Champion in his prime. We also need to calculate the rules in this fight. Let's say Chuck and Bruce fight without any rules, then i don't think Chuck would stand a chance. Because Bruce learned so many illegel stuff like eye stitch and attacking body point's were you just fall in coma or die! So under this circumstances i would say that Bruce would win it.
Listen, there's nobody outside of the major organizations that would stand a chance against top-tier opponents, end of story. I mean seriously, do you understand the level a guy like GSP is at?
GSP could walk into most any jiujitsu school and decisively dominate the head instructor. Then he could walk into most kickboxing schools and beat up the instructor there too. You need strong competition and paid sponsors to be able to train full time, at your hardest and best at the best gyms - there's simply no other way.
I don't get the concept really. If there was a dojo out there that had a fighter or was training fighters who were better than the fighters at say, Black House or GregJackson's camps... wouldn't fighters train there instead? No such place exists - there's no underground karate dojo or something that has fighters better than MMA's top fighters.
Look at Junior Dos Santos for example. He's the Brazillian HW Kickboxing champion, 18-0. He's still slowly climbing the ranks in MMA.
Demian Maia is easily in the top 10 in the world in terms of pure grappling skills. Still climbing the stacked MW ladder.
Unknown underground fighters who could beat top tier fighters simply do not exist. Sure there's guys who have insane natural talent and are maybe slowly working their way up - Jon Jones comes to mind (even tho I'm not a fan). But it's not like these guys could just come out of the woodwork and beat Shogun, GSP, Penn, Fedor, etc.
lol just read about them, they are real trust me! Or just go to youre next Dojo and ask the Master about them, he will show you some were you can actually feel them It's a great experience to feel so much pain with only such a littel effort. Ask him about that nerve point on youre feet, he will step on it and you will fell down in no time.
What the hell is all this garbage about Bruce not being a fighter?
Do you know why he started training in martial arts? He lost a street fight when he was a teenager. Do you know why his parents sent him to the US? He was destroying dudes on the streets, and the cops were after him.
He may not have fought a professional fighter, and I respect Chuck and his accomplishments, but to say Bruce wasn't a fighter is wrong.
Great Video. Bruce is a funny guy. I didn't know he was dubbed even in the Chinese versions of his movies.
Yeah there's a good chance that Bruce Lee would lose a fight to the pro fighters of his day. But then again maybe he really is as good as the "myths". Isn't it funner to believe that he was great. Think back to when you were a child, wasn't Christmas so much more magical when you believed in Santa Claus?
