Agreed. If GSP can stay out of trouble on the ground with BJ Penn, then I have no doubt that he will stay out of trouble with Jake Shields.

Fitch is like a mini GSP. I think he would destroy Shields as well.

IMO Nick Diaz is much more dangerous than Shields if not only for the fact that he is heads and tails more well rounded, kind of a moot point as Nick still says he doesn't want to fight for the UFC but I do think there is a possibility jake could pull off a submission and his ground grappling is good enough that GSP is not a shoe in if hits the floor, I just think his striking is so far behind GSP's that he cant win that fight. The only way this fight goes to the ground is if GSP takes it there, IMO this would be one of GSP's more exciting fights because its one he would want to keep on the feet.

I give Shields credit for wanting the fight at least he is willing to put it on the line but IMO GSP would finish him In round 2 shields would be thoroughly out classed by GSP. Like many others I just don't see shields on par with the top UFC WW like Alves, Fitch or KOS as I see all 3 of those guys dismantling him.

I think shields is just trying to hype this up and get a big payday from the UFC once his strike-force contract is up but if Jacare gets him in the cage in Strike-force shields will be brought back to reality long before GSP has the chance IMO

Shields must be kidding!!!! When one of the biggest names youve ever beatten in 28ish fights is jeremy jackson....You don't have much of a resume!!!

GSP is the best and I don't see him losing that belt anytime soon.

I think Hardy has a better chance of beating GSP then Shields. Hardy has a wicked chin and he's going to need it.

Shields may be the "best fighter GSP hasn't faced" but that does not mean that GSP hasn't faced better fighters already.

BJ Penn: Better BJJ and way better standup then Shields.

Outcome: GSP Mauls BJ like an infant.

Jake Shields: Not as good as most of GSP's competition.

Outcome: ALL CREDITS, MONEY, AND POSSESSIONS ON GSP

I think this fight would hit a stand still once it hit the ground and get stood back up fairly quickly. Shields is a very good grappler and has fought and beat guys that are probably as strong as GSP. He could probably prevent GSP from pounding his head in on the ground, but I doubt he would be able to catch him with a sub. GSP is also very good standing and has some of the best tdd in mma, so he would be able to dictate where this fight went and probably opt to keep it standing and knock Shields out. Im a big Shields fan, but the guy has the worst stand up of any top ten fighter in any weight class in mma. GSP would win by TKO in the first round.
