NICE!!! I really didn't see this one coming. Hopes its not just a rumor. Improves an already interesting card, especially looking forward to Condit/Daley.

And in 51 mma fights he has only been KO'd 3 times. Certainly no push over and JDS would benefit by not standing with Yvel.

Great matchup.
Havin Yvel in a fight you are guaranteed 99% that the fight won't go to decision.
JDS is the favorite, but Yvel is dangerous, huge power in his punches and kicks and he is no walk in a park.
Just looking back at that devastating KO against Rizzo, make you think twice.
Annyway, very interesting fight.

At the risk of making the thread sound like an echo... Great fight!

However, it does open up some confusion as to the HW division. If Cain is fighting Nog and Mir fighting Kongo, then whassup with Carwin? Lesnars not fighting for ages yet. Is Carwin going to play with himself for the next 3 to 4 months? Now with Cigano out the picture its a crappy deal for Carwin.

When they announced Carwin vs Lesnar it seemed the obvious choice. All the other HW's had either just lost or had equally green records as Carwins. After this latest round of matchups that wont be the case. Carwins record will look just as green whereas if Cain, Nog or JDS win they will look like proper challengers.

I think Yvel will take this. He's more experienced and has nasty KO power.

I don't see JDS taking this fight to the floor and I think that'll be his undoing.

Here's hoping Mazagatti is the referee and Yvel KO's him.

I'm amazed at how many people are brushing Yvel off. He's got the experience, the KO power and a decent chin, how much have we seen from Dos Santos? Even though Yvel's career is likely on it's way down, he's still a force to be reckoned with and can very likely take this by KO.

If they stand... I've got to give the edge to Yvel, even though anyone can land that KO shot. I think Gilbert is going to make waves in the UFC...

That being said, Dos Santos looks like a future world champion for sure.

I have a raging hard on at the idea of this fight.

Just beautiful.

This is a horrible fight for dos santos. A guy not a lot of fans know about, but yvel is very capable of beating dos santos. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Yvel's a high-risk, high-reward signing. But damn, this fight has a lot of potential.

Well... Carwin only beat Gonzaga basically - and the fight wasn't too impressive. Plus Gonzaga wasn't ranked.

Cigano tooled Werdum (still top 10 - Werdum had just beaten Gonzaga and Vera) and then TKO'd CroCop. Much bigger wins than Carwin or Valesquez.

More experienced in MMA yes... as far as striking goes, they're pretty equal with JDS maybe edging out the technical aspect.

Also, JDS is a brown belt in BJJ under Nogueira, his groundgame is unproven simply because he hasn't had to use it.
