Dana White Gives Kimbo Slice His Props, Rips Houston Alexander's Game Plan

Quote:
UFC President Dana White once said in 2008 about Kimbo Slice that "he can be on The Ultimate Fighter. What's he done other than get 10 million hits on YouTube, what's he done to deserve to be in the UFC? Nothing. I don't consider him a real athlete. He won't win The Ultimate Fighter. The offer's out there if he wants to take it, but he won't win it.”

Fast-forward to a year later, and Kimbo Slice found himself on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, losing in his first fight to Roy Nelson only to garner his first UFC victory months later at last night's The Ultimate Finale 10.

“I don’t think I have to apologize to Kimbo, I helped him," White stated in a phone interview on Yahoo! Sports. "I said what I did and he did the thing athletes do: He went out there and he worked and he made himself better. He deserves credit. He took me up on the offer I made, did what he had to do and went out and beat a legitimate UFC fighter.”

While White gave Kimbo his props for stepping up to the challenge that he presented, he was also critical of Kimbo's opponent, Houston Alexander. Alexander spent the entire first round circling Kimbo and avoiding any contact while Kimbo tried to close the distance.

“I don’t know what Houston Alexander’s corner was doing, but that was the worst game plan they could have ever come up with,” White said. “I am not sure if Kalib Starnes was training him or what, but that wasn’t the Houston Alexander I had seen fight before."

Man, disappointed in Houston. I mean, I understand not wanting to just bang with Kimbo, he knows that either one of them could have hit the floor off a solid shot...but just circling like that? It was disappointing. I know working leg kicks makes sense against him, but that was a little sad.

I agree, if you are gonna basically surrender the points for aggression and Octagon control to your opponent, you HAVE to end the fight or you WILL lose the decision... Not sure what he/his corner where thinking.

Plus the fact that he knew everyone wanted to see them trade punches till somebody hit the mat unconscious, thats why they made that fight! Might be tough for him to get more fights, if they can't even count on him for that.

The fight wasn't good but I'm glad Kimbo is really working on his ground game, BJJ is alot to take in when your fighting in a pro level. These guys can break your limbs in a heart beat, so mad props. I didn't think Big Country was gonna win like that...did y'all hear the song he came out to? It was "You Know I'm Fat" Weird Al!!LOL

Exactly! Houston is one of those guys you know 100% he will never be champion or anything of that sort, but he comes to "Bang" thats 80% what u need to be in UFC. Dana White didn't bring back Houston because he lost 3 in a row in the UFC he PURLEY brought him back because he thought he would Bang... He is now "Useless" no title shots ever in the future and his fights are "Booed?" He is a IDIOT, and i will be shocked if he fights in UFC again. People like Clay Guida can lose 8 in a row but if he came to bang like he did with Sanchez they will NEVER kick him.

small list of people kept because they come to bang are : Clay Guida, Wanderlei Silva, CroCop, Stephan Bonnar, Chuck Liddel (+ Dana butt bud) Josh Koscheck (Other then his last impressive win) Theres more but cant think of em

Gotta give Kimbo credit he truely is training his ass off to become a complete fighter. But i gotta say WTF HOUSTON!!~!?? something was very "off" with that performance... It's like they came up with this game plan "circle and leg kick for Kimbo's dodgey knee!" but it looked like it was the first time he had ever attempted a leg kick in his life most of the kicks he threw looked rubbish tbh.
