Joe Lauzon/Sam Stout on main card of UFC 108

Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout promoted to UFC 108 pay-per-view main card
by Dann Stupp on Dec 07, 2009 at 8:05 pm ET
A lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon (18-4 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Sam Stout (14-5-1 MMA, 3-4 UFC) has been promoted from the preliminary card to the televised main card of UFC 108.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the bout, originally relegated to the un-aired portion of the Jan. 2 event, is now part of the night's pay-per-view broadcast.
UFC 108 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Lauzon, one of the top fighters to come out "The Ultimate Fighter 5," has racked up an impressive 5-1 record in the UFC; the lone loss came to top contender Kenny Florian in 2008. Lauzon is current riding a two-fight win streak in which the ground specialist posted a TKO win over Kyle Bradley and a submission victory over Jeremy Stephens.
Lauzon has been out of action since suffering an ACL injury and undergoing knee surgery earlier this year.
Stout, meanwhile, looks to build off his Fight of the Night award-winning victory over Matt Wiman in April. In a must-win situation, Stout halted a two-fight losing skid and stopped Wiman via unanimous decision. Stout then was slated to compete in September at UFC Fight Night 19. However, opponent Phillipe Nover suffered a locker-room seizure just hours before the bout, which was eventually scrapped from the night's lineup.
The latest UFC 108 card now includes:
MAIN CARD
Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley
Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller
Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel*
PRELIMINARY CARD
Dan Lauzon vs. Cole Miller
Martin Kampmann vs. Rory Markham
Rafaello Oliveira vs. Sean Sherk
Steve Cantwell vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Jake Ellenberger vs. Mike Pyle
Ryan Jensen vs. Mark Munoz
|
I am still disappointed to see Sean Sherk on the undercard. Kinda surprised to see Kampmann there as well.

That card looks pretty freaking good!! A lot of those fights in the prelims could definitely be on the main card.

Lauzon/Stout and Miller/Griffen will be absolute wars, I guarantee those two fights alone will be worth the price of the card they may not have huge drawing power but all 4 guys always entertain.

Agreed! All of these fights have great potential. I can't wait to see how Condit deals with Daley and how Rashad looks after his KO loss to Machida as well as the Griffin/Miller and Lauzon/Stout. And JDS is always fun to watch.

This. I'm incredibly excited to see Stout fight again.
Now all I need is another Fisher v. Stout.

This card makes me feel all warm inside. Sadly, the casual fan will not recognize how much potential these match-ups have, and the ppv numbers will reflect his.
