Another 2 match ups announced...

Following today's official announcement of the "UFC 109: Relentless" main card, the Ultimate Fighting Championship today unveiled the night's preliminary card, as well.

The additions include a host of bouts previously reported by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) but also the unveiling of two new matchups: lightweights Mac Danzig vs. Justin Buchholz and heavyweights Tim Hague vs. Chris Tuchscherer.

UFC 109 takes place Feb. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card, including the main event of Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman, airs on pay-per-view.

Danzig (18-7-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC) finds himself in a must-win situation following his recent string of losses to Clay Guida, Josh Neer and Jim Miller. The former King of the Cage champion defeated Tommy Speer for the "The Ultimate Fighter 6" crown and then submitted Mark Bocek before the recent losing skid.

His opponent, Buchholz (8-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC), also desperately needs a victory. The one-time EliteXC fighter debuted with the UFC in 2008 and was submitted by Matt Wiman. Although he rebounded for a submission win over Corey Hill, he's since suffered stoppage losses to Terry Etim and Jeremy Stephens to drop to 1-3 in the UFC.

Hague (10-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), meanwhile, hopes to erase the memory of his record-setting loss to Todd Duffee at UFC 102. Hague, a former KOTC fighter and kindergarten teacher who submitted Pat Barry in his octagon debut back in May, suffered the loss to Duffee in a record seven seconds, which set a promotional record for the UFC's quickest knockout.

Tuchscherer (17-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) looks for a legitimate UFC debut following a fiasco at UFC 102. The veteran fighter and Minnesota Martial Arts Academy team member suffered a brutal low blow from Gabriel Gonzaga and never fully recovered. He ultimately suffered a TKO loss. He only continued, he said, because no one could give him a straight answer about what would happen if he didn't.

"It's the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my life," the 33-year-old fighter told MMAjunkie.com after the fight. "No one knew what was going on. Right now I think about it, and it's really screwed up because no one could tell me what was going on ... between the doctor and the referee. No one could tell me a straight answer on if I couldn't finish what would be the result. So I was out there and didn't know what to do."

The other officially announced bouts that we previously reported include middleweights Demian Maia (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) vs. Dan Miller (11-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), lightweights Ronnys Torres (14-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Melvin Guillard (22-8-2 MMA, 5-4 UFC), lightweights Phillipe Nover (5-2-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) vs. Rob Emerson (8-8 MMA, 2-2 UFC), and heavyweights Rolles Gracie (3-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Mostapha Al-Turk (6-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC)

The latest UFC 109 card now includes:

MAIN CARD

* Mark Coleman vs. Randy Couture
* Josh Koscheck vs. Paulo Thiago
* Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Brandon Vera
* Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
* Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
* Justin Buchholz vs. Mac Danzig
* Melvin Guillard vs. Ronnys Torres
* Tim Hague vs. Chris Tuchscherer
* Rob Emerson vs. Phillipe Nover
* Rolles Gracie vs. Mostapha Al Turk

Since when is Koscheck-Thiago a main event-calibre fight?

Since never, that's when.

The truth lies in the preceding words.

So many factors go into putting a card together. Injuries, medical suspensions, and misc such as Lesnar's illness make it difficult i would assume for Joe Silva to make every card riddled with superfights like too many fans seem to expect these days.

Could this card be better? Obviously. I wish the Thiago that Koscheck was fighting was Alves instead of Paulo. Nog/Vera should be sweet (especially because Vera will be Ko'd), Marquardt/Sonnen is a good fight, as is Maia/Miller, Guillard is always fun to watch and Rolles Gracie makes his debut.

I'll buy it.
