The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale peaks with 5.2 million for Kimbo fight
Quote:
Never doubt the drawing power of Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson.
This past weekend's Spike TV broadcast of The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale scored an average audience of 3.7 million viewers but peaked with 5.2 million for the non-headliner between Kimbo and Houston Alexander.
The Dec. 5 event was the most-watched season finale among the 10 seasons of "TUF." It was also the third most-watched UFC fight card in the promotion's history and the highest rated of 2009.
The finale was the most-watched show on cable among men 18-34 and men 18-49 for the day.
Overall "TUF 10" scored an averaged audience of 3.4 million viewers for its 12 regular-season episodes and finale. "TUF 8" and "TUF 9" had averaged just 2 million viewers.
The finale saw the crowning of former IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson as the "TUF 10" winner. He outlasted a diverse cast that included runner-up Brendan Schaub, one of our NFL vets on the cast.
Additionally, Matt Hamill scored a hotly debated disqualification win over Jon Jones in the non-"TUF" co-headliner, and in a bout that turned out to be a bit of disappointment, Kimbo topped Houston Alexander in a 215-pound catchweight bout. The unanimous decision win marked his first official UFC victory.
Episode-by-episode "TUF 10" recaps (with ratings) can be found below:

I agree with you. It's all about the $$$$$$. For some reason, people are atracted to kimbo. Him, coming from the streets, making his way into the world of MMA, kind of like a Cinderella story, or something like that.
But if the fans want to see Kimbo, the UFc will give them Kimbo. But after his last fight with Alexander, you must wonder: what is it that he brings to the world of MMA??? Other then a huge PPV potential, i see nothing.

There are lots of fighters who came from the streets.
People like Kimbo because everybody likes Kimbo. This also explains 90% of everything you need to know about people.

This drew almost as much as Strikeforce's stacked card.
Who needs Fedor when you have Kimbo.

The way I see it, it was a free event. So more people than usual watched the card. I think the ratings would have been lower had it been an actual PPV. With or without Kimbo Slice.
With that being said, WAR KIMBO!
