I don't know why, but since relations broke down between Dana and Jackson I just have this feeling Rampage will jump ship ala Hendo. He would get more viewers watching him on CBS, more mainstream media coverage than he already has done, and SF seem more than content to throw money at big names.

What do you guys think?

Difference being that Jackson actually has mainstream appeal and does sell PPV's, Henderson generally doesn't, check the reaction to the Franklin-Henderson II announcement for proof of that. I don't see there being any possibility of Rampage moving to Strikeforce. He's still under contract to the UFC, and I'm sure that once he's completed those fights Dana'll be keen to iron out the dispute and re-sign him. He'd be mad to let a top guy like Jackson go to Strikeforce.

Good point, but I can't help but feel TUF may have damaged that persona within the UFC, as well as leaving the UFC high and dry after dropping out of a Main Event months and months in the making he also bad-mouthed the UFC after they helped out legally (wink wink) in the past.

I don't really think he came out of TUF looking that bad tbh. I don't see the big isue. I honestly still like the guy, probably like him more after TUF. He's a pretty terrible coach in terms of looking after his fighters after losses, but as a guy he still seems like a quality bloke and I still like him far more than Rashad.

Yeah, I don't think he's too nicely looked upon in the UFC anymore because of that, but I think most of the bad words were down to Dana talking crap about Rampage. I'm sure, like Dana-Tito it'll all get sorted out, and the UFC will realise how important an asset Rampage is to the company. The guy's an exciting fighter, and one of the best 205lb'ers in the world, it'd be stupid to let him go over abit of shit-talking between him and Dana. I'd be incredibly surprised and very disappointed if Rampage left for Strikeforce.

Rampage doesn't wanna fight anymore. He said it. However, he might reconsider after he realizes that he doesn't have a future in acting. Dana will only iron things out with Rampage if he (Dana) gets something out of it. I'm sure Rampage's fan ratings dropped after his TUF fiasco this year. He used to be my favorite fighter, I've liked him since his PrideFC days, but I lost all love for him after he "retired". He only got the money he has now because of his fans and I felt let down. Hell, I even was down to travel to see him fight and I'm glad I didn't. I appreciated him when he was a real fighter, not a TV clown.

I'm sorry but it doesn't sound like you were ever really a fan to begin with. How can you lose all love for him that easily? The guy has some issues he needs to sort out and he'll be back just like he stated. There is no way Dana lets him go anywhere else...

I respected him throughout most of his fighting career up to this point. I thought he was an amazing person/athlete when he gave up his trophy to Ninja Rua. His explosiveness and passion was what made me a fan of his. I traveled through a snowstorm in -30* for 2 hours and spent the last money in my account to buy the shirt he wore before he defeated Chuck in the UFC. I was ready to work as long as I had to to go see him fight live. I never ever missed any of his fights and cried when he lost his belt. Ask any of my friends, Rampage was the sh*t for me. When he did that whole hit and run thing, I was behind him 100% and understood that he had issues he needed to sort out and the fact that he might never fight again. These are real issues, the issues he has now are fickle and stupid and I think go against the career he has built up until now. He said he didn't care about his fans, fine, we won't care about him either, but we paid his bills until now. I supported him as a fighter, but I will not support him as an actor.

And I agree with you that Dana won't let him go anywhere.

Some very interesting points here.

Dana will try throwing him enough $$$ to make him stay once his contract is up. But I wonder how many fighters are feeling the lack of respect, can they carry on fighting when they know they are just there to generate numbers?

If that is how Dana sees them.

Doesn't Rampage still have a couple fights left on his contract? Also, I could definitely see the UFC not giving him his last fight to keep him around. He definitely has drawing power, especially after all the money the UFC has spent giving him exposure on two seasons of TUF, including the season with Kimbo.

Perosnally I am guessing that Jackson has the typical UFC contract like most fighters. With the clause that the UFC can renew or not; but Jackson can't choose to renew or not; and in accordance with that clause he can't switch organizations even after the number of fights in his agreement is up, if the UFC wants to renew at that point.

Jackson is a good fighter and an entertaining personality so I don't see White letting him go, if they have that option.

Jackson wanting to retire instead of just leaving the UFC could be a hint that this clause is in place. I just don't think it is likely that he was ready to quit, since he is coming back to the UFC.

And to the original question- yes, it is likely he would be in Strikeforce eventually, contractual obligations permitting, just not likely imo.
