WEC Quick Quote: Donald Cerrone is going to call out Jose Aldo

http://www.mmamania.com/2009/12/10/1...donald-cerrone

Quote:

"I’m going to call out Jose Aldo and drop down to 145. I’m really looking forward to that. I’m not running away from the 155 pound weight class. I’m going to stay at 155, but just also going to fight at 145."
-- Perennial WEC lightweight contender Donald Cerrone dropped in on the MMA Madness “The Ground and Pound” radio show this past Monday to discuss his upcoming bout with Ed Ratcliff and, apparently, his desire to move down to the 145-pound division. “The Cowboy” is set to face Ratcliff at WEC 45 on Dec. 19 live from “The Pearl” at the Palms in Las Vegas. Cerrone’s alleged desire to drop down to featherweight to fight the likes of Mike Brown and Jose Aldo is admirable. But is it a bad move for the 155-pound brawler?
I think Cerrone will have his hand very full...Going with the explosiveness of Aldo if they meet....

hope he's been practicing i dont think he as good of a striker as aldo period even without aldos explosiveness and all that.he could probly beat mike brown though mike brown fights like a old man.i like cerrone though best of luck to him.

I agree. I'm a fan of Cowboy's, but this is a bad fight for him. I think he will get Ko'd. Aldo is a beast in my eyes and I've only recently been on his bandwagon (since he Mollywhopped Cub Swanson).

I would love to see this fight. Aldo's striking is amazing, but Cerrone also has good striking and he can absorb a ton of punishment. I'm not sure Aldo could knock him out but I'd like to see him try.

I actually think most of the top FW's in the WEC could beat the top LW's. Fact is if they were elite level LW's they wouldn't be fighting in the WEC.

I tend to agree with this. And I'm a huge Cerrone slappy...

(I really like Ben Henderson and Cerrone's prospects moving forward in coming years though if they continue to develop; Cerrone's takedown defense specifically)

I agree as well. I think that the FW division is by far the most exciting division in the WEC!

The top LW fighters are very good, but the FW fighters are just more well rounded and they are at a higher skill level in my opinion.

Cerrone has good standup, Aldo's is much more versatile and I believe that Aldo will be too fast for Cerrone as he was for Brown.
