Who Broke My Favorite Fighter?

There's been a lot of beatdowns and/or upsets involving much-loved fighters in the past year (Mir v Nog, Lesnar v Couture), and I've (almost) given up hope that the old CC will ever be back.

I'm sure a lot of people wondered where the old Houston Alexander was when he fought Kimbo, which is what got me thinking in this vein.

If you have a fighter that you liked, and he is not his old head-cracking self, discuss.

Chuck! Pretty sure it was the evolution of MMA, age, and a lack of desire (in that order) that broke him. This time however he may break Tito, which is fun and games for all the family.

wow this thread instantly made me think of Lidell. He was unstoppable one day, thena ll of a sudden he started getting KOd like it was his job. Age couldn't have caught up that fast could it? Maybe everyone finally caught on to his gameplan and unorthodox strikes?

CC is another. One kick and his career was essentially over.

Cool thread.

Hopefully he recovers well, but Demian Maia's KO loss to Marquardt in the space of nine seconds of whatever it was... That was brutal. Hopefully he goes in against Dan Miller and goes back to doing what he does best, making people tap.

I'm glad to say that Bisping recovered from his KO against Henderson as well. I feared the worst in that first round against Kang when he got dropped but he battled through adversity and picked up a much needed win.

Luckily my favourite fighters haven't taken too much of a beating so far. Unfortunately that's what might be in store for Dan Hardy come March...

Kimbo Slice.

He hasnt been the same since he was fighting cans in backyards for his teen exploiting porno buddy...series of tubes circa 2007

Also Carlos Newton, fuk you Matt Hughes

Cro Cop. Gonzaga broke him.

Same here!

And not exactly UFC related but I would have to say Andrei Arlovski. After getting "Fedor'd" it would seem hes not quite himself. He's only had one fight since (The KO loss to Rogers) so there is definitely still hope.

There are others that probably fit the bill much better for me but AA came to my mind first.

Great thread. Gotta say my guilty pleasure, Marcus Davis. I'm a big fan, probably cause I'm Irish, but I just like his slugger style. Obviously he'll never be more then a gatekeeper but he's been on a bad run lately and perhaps, sadly, his days are numbered.

I've always loved Marcus Aurelio. Never the best of fighters but still, I'd love to see him do well in the UFC.

I'm not sure any of my favorite fighters have ever really been broken... Fitch came back stronger than ever against Paulo, Saunders just destroyed Davis, we don't know if Maia is broken yet, Alan Belcher still looks his old self, possibly even better. I guess it's because I was never a big fan of many of the "Legendary" fighters that seem to be getting left in the dust. The only one i can actually think of is Arlovski :\
