5 min are you serious You can be death after sec if you don't get any air. But it depends from fighter to fighter. Every human body is different, you might be right that some of them will wake up even after a 5 min choke. But we all know that something dies in you when youre brain doesn't get any oxygen.

well agree to disagree but even after you pass out, your brain is not in jeopardy for a considerable amount of time. People are revived after being underwater or in a smoke filled house for long periods of time.
anyway im just saying, chances are im not tapin' ill fight and try to get out of it and hold on for as long as i can

I respect people for not tapping, but sometimes they should put pride aside and do the right thing. Btw does anybody know what entrance music Frank Mir came out to last night?

There is two types of chokes Blood choke and an air choke. Basically a blood choke is the one that will turn your lights out first as most chokes are a combination of the 2 and when your choked out you don't even know it with air choke you usually pass out either from struggling too hard thus forcing suffocation or the choke is applied long enough forcing suffocation in any rate both are dangerous and it is always a better idea to tapout if you have the chance then go out. or in Kongo's case take a couple of Jiu-Jitsu classes since you he's been fighting in MMA PRO SINCE 2001 and learn how to defend. But honestly Mir is a world class BJJ fighter and to SUB a guy with a guillotine when he was in half guard is pretty amazing. It looked like it started out as an air choke but you can see mir turn his forearm to block off the one carotid artey that was not blocked off (you have to block off both sides of the neck in order for it to work). An example of a solid blood choke was when Jeremy Horn fought Chuck Liddell the first time and Chuck was stuck in an arm triangle and he decided to wait out the round but was put to sleep

Mir is NOT a world class BJJ guy. He is your average black belt at best, and just gets rediculously overhyped by the UFC in terms of his ground game.
Essentially with the guilotine, it works like a clock. Idealy, you want to get to side control against the other guy with your body lying across his chest. The guilotine has no power then. If he got half gaurd from there, it would get tighter. If he then got full gaurd even tighter. If the opponent then passes to half gaurd but the side towards his head (like where Kongo was) it gets more tight then a full gaurd guilotine. And if he went to side control from that side, he might snap his neck.

That might be because Kongo was already badly hurt from that left hand by Mir. And i also don't consider mir a world class BJJ guy, he isn't flexible enough to be so.
