Penn vs Jose Aldo

I don't think any of the current lightweights have a chance against BJ. Maynard is a tough dude who is big and strong and can wrestle, but he can't compete with BJ. Maynard, however, should get the next shot at the title. Frankie Edgar will be a champ sometime in the post-Penn era, but he's not ready yet.

I would be intrigued by a Jose Aldo- BJ Penn fight. Aldo is a tall, pretty put-together 145 pounder. His height makes the jump in weight a possibility and everyone knows he will inevitably be a 155-er anyway. Plus Muay Thai fighters are nasty and I think the nastiness negates size differentials. I think that fight could be hyped well and if Aldo can pack it on weight-wise, it would be interesting. I think BJ would handle him, but it could be interesting. Besides, no one in LW can touch him anyway, so why not look elsewhere?

Incidently, BJ is pretty nasty himself. Look at the last 4lightweights he's fought and what he's done to their faces: Stevenson, Sherk, Florian and now Sanchez. These guys have lost a ton of blood and makes you wonder how they don't pass out! BJ knows how to open guys up!

Maybe in a few years, Aldo isn't ready for that yet.

Besides, he hasn't defended the 145 title yet, why do you wanna feed him to BJ already?

LHW - Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
MW - Anderson "Spider" Silva
WW - "The Prodigy" BJ Penn

I agree it would be a killer match-up. I haven't seen nearly as much from Aldo as I would like to before making an objective opinion on a fantasy match-up between them, but I think it would be a fun fight to watch. My gut says that BJ's striking is the 2nd best in all of the UFC, finding someone that can outstrike BJ is like trying to find someone to outstrike Anderson. And how is Aldo's jitz defense? Penn's just a beast in every aspect of fighting right now.

This fight reminds me of Anderson vs Belfort. Belfort has great striking and probably poses the biggest threat to Anderson in that aspect, but he has only just recently been doing super good and I still don't know if it's good enough to beat Anderson's. I don't know if anyone can outstrike Anderson or BJ right now in their careers.

I don't think Aldo could beat Florian or Sanchez, much less, Penn. Aldo is definately a force... In the WEC.

I prefer to see Bj vs Alvarez or Maynard First , and in year or two Go vs Aldo if he will still be the WEC fw champ .
