Money...and wanting the best competition possible.

There is also a huge baseball fan base in Japan, but players are starting to migrate over to American teams. Soccer is huge in Japan, but the best players leave to play in Europe. Pride is gone and Dream doesn't look that impressive to me presently. UFC, for all its problems, really is the marquee event in the MMA world.

But there isn't even one top Muay Thai fighter from Thailand fighting in MMA right now ( or maybe there is one i just don't know ) Is there one

Of course these guys have zero ground skills but they can learn it as well like the Kickboxing guys and so on...
This would be so awesome. Muay Thai fighters would **** a lot of UFC fighters. They bring a whole other level.

what a novel idea!! i think the NHL should also consider players from Russia..... oh wait..... they already do?? and the ufc already considers fighters from Japan?? ummm.... what was the point of this thread again??

If a fighter is on a high enough level the UFC will want them and likely try to get them... this isnt some new idea that is gonna open the floodgates like Russians in the NHL did..
Unfortunately, comparing to NHL, MMA never gets attention here. 95% of people I personally know have no clear idea what it is. Once some normal organizations starts working on this problem, we'll have the results, but now M-! has done virtually nothing for the sport here. Even comparing to boxing, MMA is too unknown for general audience. I mean, I found out about UFC accidentally and if that hadn't happened, I'd probably still not know about UFC. But hockey is a totally different sport, we've built KHL and many famous players from NHL return because the salary is really high now and RF goes undefeated for the last 2 years as a national team. I wish MMA was on this level here, not hockey.

SMH at the folks in here questioning the nature of this thread..Anderson silva cleaned up his division so thoroughly that they had to give a guy who hadnt even had one fight in the ufc at MW a title shot..After he beats belfort then what, marquart? then who belcher? This is where international scouting comes into play u cant tell me the ufc cant acquire a melvin mahoef..
You cant tell me they cant build him up against sakkras, lebens, wandis or franklins then throw him to silva (provided he stays).Selling the fight as the best striker anderson has ever met, with one punch knockout power..Are you going to tell me such a fight isnt more attractive than silva vs belcher, silva vs marquart 3 e.t.c

GSP is currently cleaning out the WW division albeit not nearly as convincingly as AS but he is getting Ws non the less..Are you going to say the ufc couldnt acquire a Marius Žaromskis to see if he could get laid on for 5 rounds? He could easily come to the ufc and uncover what we already knew (that the ufc WW division is weak) But they dont want to do that because GSP is one of the few cash cows and to have him dethroned would be financial suicide

BJ is just beating on wrestlers who are trying to box & reality tv stars..Are you going to say bringing in alveraz or aoki would hurt proceedings? give the division some variety from the monotony of fighters (A) with wrestling base but mediocre striking..Who is BJ's peer in all roundness? That is why things have become so stale in this organisation and new acquisitions need to be made

Manhoef would get taken down and subbed at will by a good portion of the UFC MW division, the UFC isn't in the buisiness of building up fighters by giving them fights that stylistically they should destroy. Thats the very reason all the fighters out of Japan have such inflated records and I would be appalled if the UFC went down that road.

Notice I didnt just mention any random MW, I was particular..Leben has a low mma IQ and will stand and bang regardless..Wandi has regressed to such an extent that he has become a one-dimensional brawler with no chin..Sakkara again another guy who once used jitz but has since got away from it to just stand and bang he aint taking nobody down..Franklin is the only guy that could legitimately beat manhoef theoretically because he is well rounded (sort huh) With the ufc's skewed booking and with 3 wins over such names as wandi and leben its the perfect way to break in new blood and make them look legit before their impending annihilation

And i'm not buying your ufc isnt in the business in building fighters rhetoric, they are building GSP's legacy now by essentially inflating his record.Has hardy really got a prayer? how is he not tailor made to get eaten alive? we saw what gsp did to fitch WITH WRESTLING.And we saw what fitch did to alves WITH WRESTLING..So was it really a surprise to see what gsp could do to alves WITH WRESTLING?Ofcourse they are in the biz to build fighters

The asian fighters are not coming to the USA for one reason and one reason only. They make more money in Asia, simple as that.

Bring in Aoki, BJ needs a challenge at 155. Even though he'll probably run through him too - it's a match I've been waiting for for a long time.

Anderson Silva is being wrapped in a cotton wool. Dana fears that AS fighting overseas (especially Japanese) competition would wreck his record. Currently AS has already lost to 3 Japanese fighters.

whats your point?? seriously?? do you really think anderson silva fears the japanese fighters?? Do you really think he is the same fighter?? Do you really think him getting his BJJ black belt and never being submitted and submitted some VERY high level grapplers to boot is a fluke?? Sometimes i wonder wtf is wrong with you and your anti UFC bias, if you cant see the greatness that is Anderson Silva i feel pity for you as a fan.

No Japanese fighter is gonna KO Anderson, I'd bet the bank on that, none of them could strike with him and the likelyhood of subbing him now is very, very, very slim. Factor in the worst matchup for him is really wrestlers and there arent really any great japanese wrestlers and i really dont see WTF you are talking about other then living in the past and not acknowledging his vast improvements.
