mir has been top 5 for a while, this fight did nothing for him in terms of rankings, thats why I found it a bit strange that the UFC made this fight up.

mir had nothing to gain but something to lose if he lost. Kongo isnt that highly rated.

I like Frank Mir, always have. I have immense respect for the way he came back from the motorcycle accident and the poor performances that followed that accident. To come back from that almost career ending accident to win a world title and be the first man to finish Minatauro Nogueira (no matter what condition Nog was in that's still an impressive feat) is seriously admirable.

Sure he talks some trash, but I still think he's a likeable guy. I'm also liking the fact he's gone away after the Lesnar beating, realised he needs to improve, intelligently got bigger and stronger, worked on his striking and improved as a fighter. I'm happy to see Lesnar keep the belt for a while, but of all the challengers I'd like to see Mir beat him most.

I like Mir for his skills in the ring, I could care less about any fighter's trash talk. I'd watch WWE if any of that concerned me. Besides, arent the monologues the time we all grab our next beer?

Good to see he has found his catalyst, his loss to Brock has greatly improved his training and game.

They hate him because he was the first guy to finish Lesnar and Nog and both those guys have huge and loyal fanbases. I'm a big fan of Mir as a fighter for how he came back from his accident and didn't give up, as a commentator I think he is the best in the business right now, and for his smarmy and condescending trash talk that he pulls off like no other.

Frank Mir is one of my favorite HW's the thing is he just talks a lot before a fight and that turns a lot of people off, considering in this last fight Congo, Where Congo was obviously taking the more modest role that sort of thing appeals to people more than Mir's aggresive wise cracks at him I suppose.

Mir has simply learned how to sell a fight better. Unfortunately too many people take fight promos seriously. They'll "hate" a fighter based on a 10 second sound byte written to sell tickets and PPVs.

Mir has also adopted a very candid and blunt style to interviews.

Some fighters say only positive things about their opponents. If Mir thinks an opponents ground game sucks he says it sucks.

And he's learned how to say it in an amped up way to sell a few more tickets. Criticizing an opponent will rub some people the wrong way.
