Bisping is overrated and has had an easy ride so far, IMO.
Schafer's a tough opponent, and was getting the better of Bisping there for a while. While Bisping did show that he needed work, he also showed that he can be a resilient fighter. I agree that he is a bit overrated, but he's just so much fun to watch.

Bisping vs Jardine would be so much fun.

It can be tough trying to knock out a manhugger. I thought he looked okay. I don't think he is champion material yet, maybe he will never be, but he looked pretty solid against somebody whose style really worked against what he was trying to do.

Guys don't get me wrong I am a big fan of Bisping I know he won and in the end that's all that matters but I'm just trying to get some opinions on why it was such a close fight. I'm not saying Bisping sucked or that Schaeffer is a god or anything I am asking you guys for your thoughts. Don't think I made this thread to bash Bisping that is not the case at all but you have to admit that this was a very close fight and I wanted your thoughts on why it was close.

Some say cuz of ring rust, some say Schaeffer is a tough guy, some say Bisping was overrated. That's what I want to know.

I think it's a little from column A, and a little from column B, WL2FU. Bisping hasn't fought in a while, and Schafer is pretty slick on the ground. Good thread as well, as it shows that while Bisping has promise, he needs some work before he's even considered to be a top fighter.

Well, I was not too impressed by his performance but he still got the TKO. He is still improving so I would say it was a good debut match.

It was probably because the other light heavyweights in TUF3 were crap. Bisping just walk through all of them.

I thought he looked pretty good, yea he was nearly done for a couple of times and schaffer put up a good fight but thats the sign of a great fighter, he came back and got the win. He didn't look unbeatable but he looked good

Mike "The Count" Biiiiiiiiiiiisssssping!

All the UK is rooting for you. Had ultimate faith in you. Seen your fights with Mark Epstein in Cage Rage when he was on top, you remained cool calm and collected. Let's all remember how that Ginger Yank Ed Herman kicked off his UFC debut against a similar sort of fighter or the Big Lanky Streak Of Piss kicked off his debut, Hawai Spider man.

Bisping is the bollocks.
