I like Frank Mir. I don't see where all the hate comes from he's a pretty smart guy and a good fighter. I enjoyed how deeply he analysed his fight. Him vs Carwin would be pretty good but I'd have to chose him as the victor.

I think it's simple as to why people hate him, he over obsesses over on guy and is so jealous of him that he probably can't sleep at night without imagining he could actually beat Brock again. Plus he talks as much shit as the next guy and aside from Nog and the lucky submission against Lesnar he hasn't beat anyone impressive. Mir is all talk.

Lucky submission? he had too survive through a barrage of blows from a mammoth and keep his will to keep on trying to finish the fight.
That's not luck, that's skill and heart.

Luck is getting stood up after only 1 or 2 shots to the back of your head, AND getting a point deducted from your opponent while getting beat down.
Frank Mir got mighty lucky that night.
As for the present, I think Mir has definitely become a much more well rounded fighter, and probably is top 3-5 in the HW division. I think Mir is good enough to beat pretty much everyone in the UFC except Brock, and of course I still think Fedor easily beats Mir (but it would probably be one of the more interesting fights).
I really would have liked to have seen the Mir vs Kongo fight progress just a BIT more to see if Mir had really developed his takedowns more, and had possibly become explosive enough to take down guys like Carwin, Cain, and Brock. Despite Mir's improved standup I still dont think its a smart idea to stand with Brock or Carwin because they just have way too much power to risk it. I think Mir's got to get it to the ground and try for a submission or hope he can sweep them once getting taken down and then get on top for submissions/ground and pound.
If Couture hadnt just cut down in weight, I'd really have liked to have seen those 2 fight as well.

Hes lucky for having his opponent deliver 2 illegal shots to the back of his head? Matt Hammill must be blessed or something...
Also mir was tooling brock in the standup their 2nd fight...dunno about carwin but imo for brock he needs to work on tdd not takedowns..

What fight were you watching? Mir was tooling Brock in the standup? Uh no. Brock dominated every aspect of their 2nd fight. The only good thing Frank did in that fight was walk out of the octagon in one piece, if it would have continued Brock would have killed him.

Lets see, round 1: brock hits mir with two inside leg kicks, mir hits him in the head 1 time, brock takes him down. Admittedly not a very exciting exchange, neither fighter did too much damage but mir did get a head shot off, so I'd have to give that to him, even though brock clearly won the round on the ground.
Round 2: Brock comes out fast, misses a jab, mir tags him on the side of the head, throws a knee which connects, although it looks to have hit brocks shoulder. he is then taken down and quickly stands up when brock doesnt pounce on him. After standing up, mir throws a bunch of punches although it seems only 2-3 really connect. Mir throws a knee, gets caught, and throws another knee which brock himself admitted left him seeing birds. He is then taken down and we all know how the fight goes from there.
Brock barely connected in the standup, his most effective strikes were two leg kicks right at the beginning of the first. Mir won the standup, but lost the fight. Feel free to watch it again and tell me im wrong
