I agree. I mean he is absolutely ripped at WW. He would be a big LW thats for sure. I don't think he could make the weight if he wanted to.

just cuase he only drops 15 ish pounds to make weight does not mean that he could make lightweight, you cant compare him and johnson. Johnson may weight 220 but also has more fat and more general mass on him. GSP's natural weight may be 187, but thats still a verty low bf% he would not be able to make light weight. end of story.

No, that's sort of different. First off, Rumble didn't make weight from 220. And second, he would have actually had stuff to lose, as in, Rumble wasn't shredded at 220, he doesn't have the frame for that weight. GSP is shredded at 170, I don't think he can lose another 15 without cutting off a limb.

He has stated many times that he walks around at 185-187. Listen to the post fight interview after the Alves fight. He has recently put on some weight though, since he plans on moving up to 185.

Actually Rumble is the one making think this is possible. Don't get me wrong, Rumble is trying to lose too much to be a WW. GSP's cut wouldn't be close to that. And yet Rumble did it, albeit, fainting backstage. And let's face it, Rumble sucks midway through the 2nd round.

But after seeing Rumble and Vera do it, it seems plausible. I wonder if GSP has considered it. Probably not. The guy seems content reigning supreme at 170 and I hope he does. Frankly I hope Penn does the same in his weight class.

He's gonna struggle at 185, though. Silva's going to be his worst nightmare. If he moves in weight, his only hope is to move down.

opps. sorry about the DP

Meh, I don't think so. Silva is a big ass 185'er, but he has bad TDD, whereas GSP has the best takedowns in the business. GSp is not that great at finishing though, which IMO, might end up resulting in him losing.

GSP my guy, but seriously, Silva doesn't have bad anything. And he is without a doubt the best striker in mma. GSP would take some shots, and it would be over. Not that GSP is a bad striker, but Silva is that good, and has the reach. It took GSP an entire round to take Penn down, wearing him down. Clinching with Silva is going to be a totally different ball game.

GSP's strategy was to only clinch in the first round. He wanted to clinch against him and wear out his shoulders/upper arms. He didn't even try to really take him down in the 1st round. Silva, on the other hand, has been taken down multiple times by multiple fighters over the years. I don't think Silva would KO GSP b4 getting taken down, no way.

I think alot of people are mistaken GSP has said he walks into the cage at 185 pounds, Im quite sure that he walks around heavier than that.
