LW: Kenny

WW : Jon Fitch with Ben Saunders being a dark horse.

MW: Would like to say Vitor but I think Nate would beat him.

LW - Top Contenders: Kenflo, diego, maynard, edgar, griffen
Like many others have said, I'm also on the kenflo bandwagon simply because he is the most well balanced and technical fighter of the bunch. Watching diego throw 1 2's and left kick against bj does not convince me that he will beat kenflo. Kenflo lost to bj because of a bad gameplan, diego lost because he was outclassed. With that said, I'm also impressed (and bored) by maynard. He has some great footwork with heavy hands. He is still the best wrestler in the division. I think a maynard kenflo fight would be very competitive with kenflo having a slight advantage because of his elusiveness and striking technique.

WW - top contenders: fitch, alves, kos, hardy, daley.
I can't see kos beating alves, or him fighting fitch. I can't see hardy beating kos, fitch or alves. Daley is not ready yet. Can fitch beat alves again? I think alves will beat him although I do think at some point fitch will take him down, but he will not keep him down. I think Alves will not be so tentative with his leg kicks compared to his gsp bout and he will out point fitch on the feet.

MW- contenders: nate, maia, belfort, johnny cash
maia is not a complete fighter yet, although i do see him beating beltcher. It will come down to nate belfort bout and i see nate using his superior strength and ground game to beat a very dangerous belfort

Interesting topic.

In the LW division, yeah, you're probably right Brian that Ken Flow would probably be first in line for the title if BJ Penn retired tomorrow. He'd beat Diego Sanchez on points and hold it for a year until Dana White decides to give one Andre Winner a shot - which is when you would see a true unbeatable champion. Regardless of that, even if Penn is still champ by next year, Winner's going to come knocking. Frankie Edgar seems like he's hungry too, so he'd be a contender but that's it.

THE WW division is less clear cut. A lot of strong contenders out there. Thiago Alves would probably dominate the division with Kos and Fitch always fighting for that spot. That said, I do think The Koscheck has the best chance in beating GSP. He is the only one in the division who could match him for wrestling. Plus he has more power in his strikes than GSP, but obviously isn't as technically good.

For the middleweight division..hmm, yeah you're right probably Marquardt, but I don't think he'd reign like Silva. I think CB Dollaway COULD become a huge threat if he gets his shit together. I need him to show me where he is at in his fight with Goran, a fight in which CB is the underdog for once. If CB displays more than half of what he is capable in that fight then I reckon he'd be a handful for Marquardt.

On a personal level, I would be very disappointed if the three fighters retired tomorrow. As for the divisions themselves, I'm relatively confident this is how they would end up.

Lightweight: First let me say it surprises me how many think Diego is at the top of an ultra-stacked division. He has never really defeated anyone who had a big name at the time of their loss, with the exception of Karo Pariysan, a fighter who is now long out of the sport's evolutionary loop. I think when it's come to fighting against a highly technical fighter, Diego has never been able to do much. There's no way Diego beats a guy like Florian. In my eyes, Florian is by far the second most impressive fighter in the lightweight division. Before his loss to BJ he was finishing just about every fighter they put him up against. And now after his BJ loss he's looking more impressive than ever.

Welterweight: Again, this division(in my eyes) is somewhat easy to call. Fitch may have a ton of wins under his belt in the UFC, however it's difficult to make a case that he's a stand-out MMA fighter. As soon as Fitch runs into someone who could consistently defend his takedowns, we've seen how he deals with even mediocre strikers in his last fight. Give him a guy like the fighter Alves has evolved into(someone who was capable of stuffing a couple of GSP takedowns) and I'm very confident Fitch would be outclassed. The fight would go very similar to Kos vs Alves, except I think Fitch's standup is worse than Kos'. In the WW division, in my eyes Alves is the clear #2 spot.

Middleweight: Marquardt is this division's clear #2. I think Marquardt vs Sonnen will show us just how far ahead Marquardt has gotten. I would've liked to see Marquardt versus Belfort. I think a fight like that would really showcase how versatile Marquardt is, while Sonnen against him isn't really going to show us anything we didn't already know.
You took the word out of my head with the WW division

If Penn, GSP, and Silva retired? Every WW, LW, and MW fighter in the world would breath a sigh of relief.

Welterweight would be the toughest to determine with the gay triangle stuff going on.

MW - Either Vitor or Rich Franklin if he drops back down. Those two would easily be the number one and two. Both would destroy Marquardt, relatively easily.

WW - Alves. Hes the second best in the division and would wreck all the other contenders. Fitch has been terribly unimpressive since GSP destroyed him and I have no reason to believe that Alves wouldn't stop him. Kos poses no threat. Hardy....haha, nope.

LW - Probably Kenny Florian, who I find to be terrible overrated anyways. Hopefully Tyson Griffin or Frankie Edgar though.

Marquardt is the 2nd best MW imo. I don't really see any MW giving him much trouble(unless Belfort lands a lucky flurry).

At WW it is between Fitch and Alves. I think both would hold it at different times.

At LW I could see Florian dominating but my darkhorse would be Maynard.
