cro cop.....i know cro cop has a fight coming up, but a boy can dream right?
I'd not want to see him fight CC at all. I'd much prefer someone who I feel is going to tell us whether or not Nelson is a legitimate addition to the HW division. A task which is made difficult by how many of those fighters have upcoming fights. Here are a couple of my propositions:
Nelson could go a couple of ways. Since I think he was probably a huge hit on TV, because of how many casual combat sport fans probably related to him, the UFC will most likely try to hype him up with a couple of mid-level opponents.
Big Nog would be an interesting fight albeit a huge step up in competition for Roy.
JDS if he wins his next fight. That'd be a great test for both fighters.
Gabriel Gonzaga would be another great match that we'd get to see very high level jujitsu during, assuming Gonzaga didn't K.O. him in the stand up.
It'd difficult to think of good competition that isn't currently occupied. I think Gonzaga is a very likely opponent for Nelson, if the UFC decides to test Nelson. If not it's likely we'll see Nelson fight another mid level fighter or two before he's given a real test.
I wouldnt be surprised to see the UFC give him one gimme fight like Hardonk. Im sure they would like to add a little more credibility to Roy with the casual fans before they throw him in there with the real talent. The winners of TUF usually get a couple pretty easy fights to start off with.
Not really. I just hate seeing the UFC babysit TUF winners in hopes they'll become future poster boys. It builds a huge, unjustified fanbase for that fighter, AKA Michael Bisping. There are some people out there who legitimately feel he's a top contender, and no disrespect to either him or his fans, but he's not even close to the likes of Marquardt, Vitor, Hendo, Sonnen.
Dana really hates the guy so he will probably give him some tough fights IMO, i hope not though, they should build him up a little so he trains harder and better, because he is naturally a very gifted fighter, god knows how good he could be if actually train with a proper camp full on.
There is no point at all in giving TUF winners tough fights to start off because majority are just up and coming in the game.
