first let me explain that i know gsp is the clear favirote, and he'll most likely dominate the fight with takedowns and gnp. that doesn't mean to say though that this fight is a guaranteed shut out like most people think. in fact, i think hardy is a tougher fight for gsp than fitch is.
dan hardy has a punchers chance... that might not sound like much but thats the best chance you can hope for against a fighter like gsp.
hardy has great power, and unlike thiago alves he won't be at a reach disadvantage. in fact, he has 2 inches on gsp in height, so gsp won't be able to keep hardy at bay with the jab. gsp will outpoint dan hardy in the standup, but hardy will always be looking to counter with a big left hook. if one of those hooks lands gsp WILL be rocked. if gsp comes in to shoot hardy will be waiting with a right hand.
if hardy rocks gsp at any point in this fight he HAS to take advantage immediately. whenever he rocked swick he would clinch and go for the takedown, he can't do this with gsp or he'll end up on his back. he'd need to keep his distance while landing strikes to get the finish.
when this fight hits the ground i'd say gsp will be able to keep control for the rest of the round. hardy has a tight guard and doesn't take alot of damage, plus he's tough as hell so he'll be able to take what gsp's got gnp wise. hardy has been submitted early in his career, so if gsp will finish this fight it'll be by submission.

You're partly right, Hardy has a puncher's chance, not much of one, but better than nothing.
As for being a tougher fight than Fitch, I'm not sure about that, even though Hardy might actually have a better chance to win, ie, about 5% compared to Fitch's 1%.
Although Fitch has lousy striking, and therefore even less of a punchers chance than Hardy, GSP still had to work a hard five rounds with Fitch. I think it extremely unlikely Hardy will last five rounds, he has already shown he has trouble with wrestlers, and has been finished by GnP and submission by them. I find it hard to imagine someone regarded as the best functional wrestler and GnPounder in MMA won't finish Hardy in less than five, tough as he is.
I see this fight ending with an ref stoppage in the second round due to gnp. GSP the winner. Don't know why but I have a feeling it won't be a submission.
But I agree with you Hardy of course has a puncher's chance and he can throw those hands pretty well.
I'm looking forward to this fight.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day...
He has basically 1 punch every round to get him rocked, so those odds arent very good. GSP is amazing at avoiding damage and moving around the opponent ever since he got rocked by Serra. He will take him down each round within the first 45 seconds and its basically GSPs round with whatever the remaining time is.
I got the same feeling as this as with Machida v Shogun.
Everyone discounted Shogun, everyone discounts Hardy (I did for both fights pretty much). Yet I still have a little feeling the fight won't go the way everyone expects, like I did for Machida Shogun.
I hope it's a more entertaining fight then GnP for five rounds at least.

The people that were not taken in by the Machida era hype I think realized that Shogun fighting at 100% would make for a close fight. That was one fight I didn't place any bets on because I was so torn as to who would win.
As for GSP/Hardy. I agree with a majority in that Hardy has a punchers chance, but more than likely will fall to GSP's GnP.
