Which fight card had the best fights in 2009
I was posting on another forum in response to the best fights of 2009 and I was thinking what event had the best night of fights in 2009. Now I am talking about which card had the best actual fights, not which card was the most stacked with top fighters.
Best card of 2009------UFC Fight Night 19
Nate Quarry vs. Tim Credeur
Carlos Condit vs. Jake Ellenberger
Gray Maynard vs. Roger Huerta
Nathan Diaz vs. Melvin Guillard
What can you say about this card. The 1st 3 fights were some of the best fights I had ever seen and they were consecutive. 2 of the fights were split decisions and all went 3 explosive rounds. The Quarry Credeur fight had unbelievable Toe to Toe action and Credeur is one of the toughest fighters out there. Condit Ellenberger was back and forth for 3 rounds and there were countless transitions. In each of those 2 fights the winner was in serious danger of being finished and came back to win. Then comes the 3rd fight--maynard v Huerta. Maynard was just a little more polished but Huerta never backed down and they threw hard for 3 rounds. Huerta showed that he has the heart of a true fighter and didnt just use MMA as a stepping stone to another career. Then to cap it off Nate Diaz takes lots of punishment and finishes the fight by a submission.
There were a lot of great fights this year including my fav--Sanchez v Guida, but any one of those 1st 3 fights could have won fight of the night on another card.
