GSP is a great wrestler, AND a great "mma wrestler" or whatever that means. He makes good wrestlers look really bad, and is most likely gonna be wrestling for Canada in the Olympics. I would say, yeah, he's prolly the best.

Do people realize Koshcek was legitimately considered a favorite to compete in the olympics when he left amateur wrestling to compete in MMA, Koschek was a top 4 in the nation wrestler all 4 years he competed, a division 1 champion and has numerous other wrestling accolades, this is a guy who was unable to prevent himself from being taken down nor could he really get GSP down, that is insane when you consider that wrestling is much bigger in the US than other countries.

Thumbs up

MMA wrestling- GSP

Regular wrestling- (mostly based on credentials in my order based on weight of accomplishments/overall success during wrestling career)

1. Ben askren - 1 time Olympian, 2 time Undefeated NCAA champion. 2 time NCAA runner up.

2. Randy couture - 2 NCAA runner up, 2 time Olympic alternate, olympic semifinalist.

3. Jake Rosholt - 3 time NCAA champion
tie
3. Johny hendricks - 2 time ncaa champ 1 time runner up.

4. Lindland- Greco silver medalist
(ranking due to weakness in folk style and freestyle)

5. Koscheck - ncaa champ 4 time all American

6. Henderson - 2 time olympian

7. Mohammad Lawal- Decorated International wrestler

Probably missing quite a few

Why'd you put Velasquez on that list?

GSP is the best MMA wrestler P4P, hands down.

Wukkadb Cain isnt nearly as proven as GSP but he's a very good wrestler and I do believe he deserves to be on that poll.

I'd put a few people on that list before him. A few that come to my mind are Gray Maynard, Matt Hammil, Frankie Edgar, etc.

Good thread Toxic.

It's really silly, people saying Brock wins on "credentials." He has one NCAA win from a DECADE ago. Kosh has like 4 wins and Hughes has a couple, infact a ton of people have NCAA championship wins (randleman comes to miind, I think he has a few).

Also, Demian Maia out-wrestled Sonnen so he gets bumped from the list.

As for pure wrestling, it might have to be Brock just based on credentials.

But this is MMA. Not wrestling.

Josh has one, and Hughes has one as well. Randlemann has 2, though.
