How do people define 'technical' after a certain competence? I understand elite strikers versus Lebenesque brawlers, but isn't the most 'technical' either the most traditionally accepted forms or simply what wins fights??

Technical striking is skilled, polished striking from the preservation of technique, not what wins fights.
Anderson Silva is a technical striker.
Wanderlei Silva is an accomplished brawler.

So do you mean consistency in form across different situations/repetitions? 'Preservation of technique' refers to the same word so it isn't informative. Who would you say is more 'technical' then, Silva or Machida? and why?

You could argue the same about Nogueira. He's a great striker, but it's mostly power.

Look at how much a striker like Silva throws and look at his landing percentage. Look at his foot work, his angles, his defense, where he lands his punches and how he throws different types of strikes. That's a technical striker.

Joe was wrong. I'm surprized he got caught up in the moment and said something like that. Maybe he really does think it, who knows for now.
I'm sure he will address this on his twitter after he's flooded with emails.

If you are talking about Lil Nog. You are nuts, his technique is beautiful. Top 3 in MMA in terms of technical boxing.
Big Nog, then you are lying. He's been outstruck several times. Tim Sylvia for one beat the shit out of him. As did Mir.

I don't agree. From how I see "technical striker" I would say GSP IS a better striker than Daly. GSP out struck even BJ who is widely known as one of the best technical strikers in the UFC.
