why is it that wrestlers cant stop the wall walk
Saturday night I found myself yelling at the TV in 3 different fights. Evans vs Silva being one of them.
i dont understand this for example when silva would get up he would put his bak against the cage and the cage to walk his way back to his feet. When saw this happen in 3 different fights and several times yelled at the TV pull his legs and circle toward the cage. if you do this while they are moving toward the cage you can stop it before it happens. am i the only one that sees this? |
Yea you are the only one who noticed............. kidding:)
I wondered the same during Evans Silva. The first 12 minutes of that fight were Evans gets the takedown, Evans does no damage, Silva gets back up then repeat. I wanted Evans to win the fight but when the third round started I no longer cared who won. Isn't Silva a BJJ blackbelt, why no submission attempts???? They both looked unimpressive last night. |

Anyway, assuming Rashad vs. Rampage -fight is next I really hope Rashad comes with a proper game plan, because Rampage has great wrestling (Re: Hendo fight) and arguably just as dangerous (although less technical) striking as Silva does. Basically with a perfomance like that I see Rampage knocking Rashad out pretty quick. |

Way to hijack a thread guys. . . :confused03:
I'm not sure why alot of fighters find it hard to stop the wall walk, but i'm sure theres valid reasons. The only point i can think is that if you do grab the legs and circle towards the cage, youre losing alot of control over the upper body of your opponent, as youre going to be shifting your weight to the side, so maybe its easier to be swept? I really cant offer more than that. . . |

I think you're right though, seems logical. It seems whenever there's no weight and pressure on someone's upper body keeping them down, it's easy to use that freedom and upper body strength to roll or sweep. That seems to be the most common mistake in top control, to not have enough weight on the opponent's upper body and allow then to just raise up and twist. |
Looked like Rashad is moving towards a GSP game plan.

I'm pretty sure he's trying to do that, it's just difficult to do. You seriously think Rashad Evans hasn't trained this?
