In the UFC?

This article is for new UFC prospects. Even though Semtex, Akiyama, and Nog have been fighting for a while, they are still new prospects to the UFC.

Deal. I love you bro but Cain is going down, he's never faced anyone ranked and Nog is one of the best in the world. Just remember how he threw Randy (and his wrestling) around like a ragdoll and tooled him standing, and how Cain has to be a better wrestler than Randy to win this fight.

Even then he could get swept and submitted. Or KO'd.

I was expecting actual prospects. Not just up and coming contenders.

Guys like Phil Davis, Todd Duffee...etc.

Don't agree with the order for your top 20 but that's good list. You just need to add Ellenberger imo, good wrestling + KO power at WW = good prospect.

I see JDS above Cain at this time but they're close to each other.

Khov, Big Nog didn't ragdoll Randy stop this non-sense. He swept him on the ground a couple of times and that has a lot more to do with BJJ than wrestling. If Cain TDs him he'll most likely be swept too but he wont get out-wrestled by Big Nog (get TDd or have his TDs stuffed). No way.

And since when does good wrestling + good striking = being one dimensional? AJ isnt a one dimensional fighter.

prospect -

a) an apparent probability of advancement, success, profit, etc.

b) a potential or likely candidate

Don't know what you mean by "actual" prospects but the guys you mentioned are definitely prospects, it's just that they didn't do good enough to break the top 20 this year.

Semantics works terribly here. And I pretty much defined what I meant by actual prospects in my post when I referenced Phil Davis and Todd Duffee.

To me all these guys are up and coming contenders, not prospects They've already proven themselves against some of the top fighters.

For example in boxing

Guillermo Rigondeaux = Prospect
Amir Khan = Up and Comer/Contender

Baseball

Andrew McCutchen = Prospect
Evan Longoria/Hanley Ramirez = Up and Comer/Young Star
