Jim Miller vs Mark Bocek on tap for UFC 111

Quote:
It’s been only a week since he defeated Duane “Bang” Ludwig at UFC 108, but Jim Miller already has his next fight laid out. Miller will step back in the Octagon at UFC 111 in his home state of New Jersey to face Mark Bocek, according to MMAWeekly.com sources.

The bout has yet to be signed, but has been agreed to.

Miller (16-2) is 5-1 in the Octagon, his only loss being to Gray Maynard at UFC 96. He has since bounced back with three straight victories. Miller was born and raised in New Jersey, where he wrestled at Sparta High School.

Hailing from Toronto, a city the UFC is working feverishly to bring an event to, Bocek (8-2) has won three-straight fights as well. He is 4-2 in the Octagon, losing to Frankie Edgar and Mac Danzig. He enters UFC 111 having defeated Joe Brammer at The Ultimate Fighter: The Heavyweights season finale on Dec. 5.

UFC 111 features two title fights. The Prudential Center in Newark hosts welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s title defense against Dan Hardy, as well as a heavyweight interim championship bout between former champion Frank Mir and top contender Shane Carwin.

IN NJ?!?!?!?!

It's already over.

I wish that he could have gotten the fight against Griffin, that would have been a SERIOUS uphill battle for Miller.

But I have no complaints, this is a much, much, much larger test than Ludwig.

I like Bocek a lot, I'll be interested to see the odds seeing as he is on a 3 fight submission streak.

I'm sure he is going to be pretty fired up, with intent to put on a show for the hometown crowd.

But why does Sherk get Florian now.

I wish it was Jim vs Sherk.

This will be an interesting fight that I am looking forward too. Some people may think that this will be an easy win for Miller, but Bocek is a legit lightweight. His only losses are in the UFC which are against Frankie Edgar and Mac Danzig. It was his UFC debut when he fought Edgar who is one of the top lightweights in the UFC himself. Against Danzig, he actually won the first round and controlled Danzig up until he got caught by a big knee in the second round. After that, the momentum shifted in Danzig's favor. Since then, Bocek has been making a name for himself slowly with 3 straight submission wins.

That being said, I expect this to be a fairly competitive fight with Miller coming out with the win.
