It is what it is and we gotta accept it.

Training partners grow and improve together and very often dont feel comfortable splitting training camps and corners to fighting each other.

Btw, Daley would hand Hardy's arsh to him. He's simply the better striker with better technique and more KO power.

Who has Dan Hardy KOd in the UFC or for that matter in his MMA career that is worth mentioning?

i agree daley has incredible KO power and would certainly beat hardy i also think he poses more of a threat to GSP but obviously with only 2 ufc fights he cant get a shot just yet

I think your point fails completely when you look at the top end of any sport.

If the UFC wants to maintain its place as the number one MMA or even number one fighting sports organisation in the world then it needs fighters with one single ambition, to be the best in the world, if there is anything more important to a fighter than trying to prove that point then they dont belong in the UFC and if proving you are the best means fight a close friend then it should not matter, and the end of the day if there friendship is more important to them than there drive to become number one then what the fcuk are they doing in the UFC?

Its bad for business.
Oh Soojo also boxers have trouble with it. Probably the most famous example are the Klitschko brothers. And many MMA fighters like Daley and Hardy or Silva and Lyoto probably feel there realationship already like they are brothers.

BTW I couldn't do it either!

Agree, I do accept it, I just don't like it.

With Machida and Silva, I can be a bit more understanding. They primarily fight in different weight classes. However if Machida is still champion and Lil Nog is the #1 contender, than IMO they should fight.

I understand the thought process of training together and not wanting to split camps, but as stated above, they are professionals.

Thinking outside the box for a minute, if Hardy beats GSP and Daley wins his next fight, Daley would be either the #1 contender or a fight away from that. Is he saying that he wouldn't want to fight for the belt. Call me crazy, I always thought as a competitor, one always strives to be at the top of the mountain...

...maybe he just lacks any confidence in his mate beating GSP which in his mind makes the speculating of any Hardy/Daley fight a mute point.

I do agree with you in essence, as a human being. My points is, as MMA matures in the west, it'll become clear that it does you no favours to train with the same partners and grow very close to them over a long period. If you seriously plan to challenge the top 10, how can you train with other top 10 guys? It's absurd. Its like Manchester United players training with Liverpool players! These players are friends, but when it comes to football they dont train together. I doesn't make sense to do that. If you do, you cant compete with them and therefore cant work.

GSP has a core group of dudes he likes to train with. Marquart, Jardine and Rashad are 3 of them. No top 10 WW's. Any idea why that is?

You know I was thinking about this. Pretty soon UFC will probably put in a clause that they have to fight anyone and everyone specified albeit in the same camp.

The only two they will be hesistant is of course A. Silva and Machida since they both are champs. Especially for A. Silva since he may just end up dropping everything to pursue his life long dream of facing RJJ. Although I do respect that it is a conundrum. In other sports the competition may be fiercer than ever especially amongst friends, but nobody is trying to take their head off or break their arm. As fans of course we want to see every possible fight conceivable.

But really think about this if you were a fighter.
You'd fight if push came to shove, but would you try to KO your own brother or friend you came up with from the beginning. Psychologically I'm not sure the fighters will be the same before or after. The lines of true professionalism begin to blur. It's tough...

... probably because they are all bigger than him... thinking about it.

I can think of at least two things wrong with this sentence.
