14/01/10 - Stefan Struve faces Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 21

Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve will be facing TUF10 season winner Roy ‘Big Country’ in his next fight, Fighters Only can reveal. The fight is set to take place at UFC Fight Night 21 in North Carolina and at least one of the fighters is understood to have returned a signed bout agreement.

Struve arrived in the UFC last year with a fight against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 95 in London, England. He was blitzed early by the Brazilian, but has since racked up three consecutive wins, one of which was a comeback war against Denis Stojnic.

The tall Dutchman’s last fight was a three-round decision win over Paul Buentello at UFC 107 and he has earned fans with his gutsy performances. The fact he is just 21 years old has also made him something of a housewive’s favourite, if the women in the Fighters Only office are anything to go by.

Man, another great fight for UFN 21. Struve looked really good against Buentello I thought. The UFC are really pulling out an awesome show here. If all the rumours are true then we're looking at a card featuring:

Brandon Vera vs Jon Jones
Junior Dos Santos vs Gabriel Gonzaga
Anthony Johnson vs John Howard
Clay Guida vs Sean Sherk
Roy Nelson vs Stefan Struve

Eliot Marshall vs Vladamir Matyushenko
Brendan Schaub vs Chase Gormley
James Irvin vs Alessio Sakara
Spencer Fisher vs Duane Ludwig

That is a class card for a Fight Night right there. Really looking forward to it.

I don't care if they look like the number 10 standing side to side, I think it'll be interesting especially on the ground. However, we know who has the most wrestling experience and we'll see if it can ward off the long-limbed subs.

Roy Nelson takes this in my opinion. I think that Nelson is good enough standing up to take on struve and if it went to the ground I think that he would win by way of belly and ground and pound!

This is actually extremely interesting to me. I've always wondered which jiu jitsu body is best... long and lanky, or short and fat. Both have major advantages...

Struve has an alright record and is 3-1 in the UFC so far, if he beats Nelson it'll be the biggest win of his career. If Nelson creams Struve it'll show how seriously he's taking his UFC career.

It's funny that we have Struve and JDS and Nelson and Shaub, all four have recently faced eachother, on the same card.

UFN 21 is getting pretty stacked, I think the UFC is sucking up to the fans after all of those recent injuries started chipping away at their PPV cards. Definitely not complaining though.
