Who Is The REAL King At 185?

if there were no boundries as far as organizations go. who would riegn supreme at 185? there are alot of really good fighters out there. and there are guys on top that have lost to other guys down in the ranks. but if we had a world middleweight grand prix, who would come out on top? anderson silva, franklin, ryo chonnan, henderson, filho, misaki, lindland, salaverry, there are alot of good guys out there. so who takes it? and do any of the newer guys have a shot, swick, or marquadt?? could baroni or lawler come out of nowhere and shock the world??

I don't have an opinion on who is the best at 185 but I would love to see A.Silva and Salverry fight.

I gotta go with Filho. Silva wouldnt be able to stop his takedowns.

yeah alot of straight ufc fans dont realize that anderson wasnt number one in pride. there are alot of really good guys over there. ryo dominated silva the entire fight. and then pulled of one of the most incredible submissions ive ever seen right at the end of the fight just to put an exclamation on his performance.

Was that the flying ankle lock where he climbed up his leg while he was standing? It was amazing.

Filho is the King at 185. 8 wins in Pride and undefeated in MMA. Made a very tough Misaki look like his b-tch in his last fight. His takedowns are unstoppable and he is the best BJJ fighter at that weight. He would dominate Anderson. Other thatn Filho I would say Kang and Henderson are up at the top of the division.

Filho's great, and his last two showings against Misaki and Chonan basically take them out of the running to be king. I like Filho alot, but my biggest issue with him is his striking. It doesn't look good enough to keep up with the big guys.

Honestly, I don't think Silva is the greatest thing at 185, but he is exactly the kind of fighter that's capable of beating Filho. He's been confident in his last few fights and he's been dominant on his feet. He has a BJJ blackbelt, which means he's not a cakewalk to submit. And they're both Brazillian Top Team, aren't they?

I do think Filho's a great fighter, but he can't be on this list yet because he hasn't proven how good his BJJ is against someone with an established BJJ or wrestling game. Chonan has submissions, and so does Misaki, but they aren't going to challenge Filho's strength.

I want to say that right now it looks like Denis Kang is the best. It's just my opinion, but I think he should have won the Misaki fight, and that's why I consider him the best. Really, he's been unstoppable otherwise.

After Dan beat down Vitor Belfort, I think he's got a good shot at being called the best again, but here's what I'd like to see:

A four man tournament:

Dan Henderson
Paulo Filho
Denis Kang
Kazuo Misaki

Those are the guys I call top competitors, anyways.

Wow that was the sickest submission I have ever seen on Anderson there by chonan.

Anderson is not Brazilian Top Team though. He trains with some other group encluding Ryoto Machida, Assuerio Silva and some others I cant remember what it is called.
