Dave Meltzer just released the PPV numbers for UFC 108 and its pretty ugly: an estimated 255k 270k buys.

I assumed it didnt do well, not enough big names on the card

I rather enjoyed 108. The next card will top the list for streaming!

for people who cant afford to spend a extra $45+ a month, sometimes even more if the UFC has two PPV events in a month, then this was a weak card, think of it as "bang for the buck"

even for the average MMA fan, they might not even know who Yvel is, and JDS is just coming to the bigger picture within the last year or so, otherwise, the other fights could have been very low on a main card or even a prelim card.

This could be exactly why it did so poorly on the PPV, usually I chip in with a few mates to order the events but we did not bother for this event, in fact we wont be ordering another live event until UFC 111 I don't think, although the idea if Bisping vs Silva is getting more and more tempting for UFC 110, but if it comes to a choice between 110 and 111 there is only one winner.

If the UFC spit it up a bit so that you only get one PPV event every couple of months or even when a title is on the line, then maybe they would do better, as for the rest just make them ordinary fight nights.

UFC PPV events are becoming too frequent. They seriously need to get a major network deal.

This. I wish they'd just start showing stuff on versus. Like, UFNs could still go on Spike because there are a whole 2 of them a year if we get lucky -.- and stuff like 108 could go on Versus yeah?

It's sad because UFC 108 turned out to be one of the best events I've seen in a while, too, lol.

Including TUF finales and UFC 95&105 we got 7 free events on spike in the last year which isn't bad. All-together UFC put on 20 cards in 2009.

Is Verses a bigger network than Spike? My thoughts are the same are yours pretty much. Just instead of cards like 108 going on Verses, get them on NBC,CBS,ABC,FOX etc. (whatever the big networks are down in the states).

Stop asking for less events! That's the last thing any MMA fan would want.

I'm not so sure about this, people always say it but is there no such thing as too much product? I love certain foods but if I eat them over and over I get bored. With so many events, sometimes I find that the spectacle is slightly lost, and the big show doesn't have that feel to it like it used to.

I love watching MMA don't get me wrong, but I find for the overal big show experience it was better when there was less. Naturally there will be more and more as the business grows, but that doesn't mean I have to prefer it that way.
