they didnt invent the UFC, but you cant judge him by that, you are getting choked and the opponent isnt letting go.

Also it's hard to tell but Renzo helps Marquardt up after the fight and you can see him shaking hands with his corner afterward. Clearly they knew there had been some confusion in the heat of the moment.

Geez will people stop pissing all over Renzo and the Gracies? It's clearly RICARDO ALMEIDA in the clip, Nate has never fought Renzo or any Gracie for that matter.

Renzo is the guy who boots him in the head.

it's not ricardo's job to let go when he feels a tap. in fact that is a BAD idea. Watch old ufc's, royce lets go of shamrock when he taps, ref doesn't see it, royce has to resink his sub and continue because shammie won't admit he (quite obviously) tapped.

Ricardo let go when the ref told him to and that's good enough for me. Nate was a dick to punch him again, but I'll chalk it up to reckless youth. He's just lucky it wasn't a damaging strike.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

But clearly he didn't let go right away when the ref told him to and the ref needs to hold his arm to freed up Nates head.

That gap could literally be measured in tenths of seconds. That's really not a meaningful reason to hit someone, that's well within the threshold for someone with a deep choke sunk from the bottom to let go after being told to. It might have been intentional, but it wasn't excessive at all, while the punch afterward was just plain dumb on Nate's part.

Actually all the Gracies I've saw fighting had some very unsportsmanlike behaviour in the past.

They were all really badass back then, but I guess thats what made them so incredible as fighters!

This is a very minor point, but Shamrock actually conceded when Royce just threatened to lock it back in if he wanted to lie. That makes the story even more badass

Definitely not Ricardo's fault.
