I don't know what point Chael is trying to make by pointing out Anderson's English. He's been making strides to get better, he's spoken more in English as of late. What can Sonnen say about his Portuguese? If the UFC held an even there would he be able to speak to his fans (I doubt he has Brazilian fans though) fluently?

Don't buy into the things he says. While Anderson may be able to engage in some smalltalk and sound "perfectly fine" that's not his primary language and his message doesn't get through how he intends sometimes. Look at Wanderlei Silva's message to his fans. He stated that he wanted to speak in Portuguese because he felt he wasn't able to deliver his message as he truly wanted in English. Lyoto Machida has also stated a similar problem. Comfort in speaking is more important than the ability to speak.

What everyone REALLY needs to remember is that Team Quest is known for having the one of, if not, the biggest group of crybabies and shit-talkers in MMA. They always seem to have something to say about everyone else. I think Soares made the perfect point. Sonnen barely beat a tripped out and overweight Paulo Filho then got demolished by Maia. He shouldn't even be thinking about Anderson, especially with Nate Marquart ahead of him.

I really have nop problem with fighters talking smack before a match, its really all part of the promotion IMO. In this case though maybe he should have left what he has to say on the subject at hand, Nate. Talking about a possible future match up with the current champion, which in my opinion is highly unlikely cause he doesn't beat Nate, just makes him look silly. Even to talk about AS at this time is irrelevant. It's too bad too, cause I think that Sonnen is one of the top MW in the UFC. Now I'd like to see Nate destroy him.

Yes, Verbal beating for Silva, and physical one for Sonnen.
Such a douchy guy, he should beat Nate before he starts talking crap about Silva. He'll look so embarresing after Nate knocks him the **** out and Sonnen doesn't even get near to a title shot.
Sonnen said it best himself, its highly unlikely that Silva will sign to fight him. Thats not because Silva is scared of him, its because Sonnen isn't a contender material.

I think Sonnen is going to beat Marquardt, which already was going to be enough to get him a title shot, I dont think the shit talk is neccessary. Normally, most of the top guys dont fight any differently no matter what you say about them. Bj, GSP, and Fedor all come in with pretty much the same intensity level no matter what kind of trash gets thrown around before there fights. That is not the case with Silva. We have all seen what happens when Silva comes into a fight unmotivated. He did it against Leites and Cote. He didnt get hurt or anything, but he was clearly uninterested in the fight. James Irvin and Forrest Griffin both managed to get Silva hyped up before there fights, and they both got destroyed. Talking shit and giving Anderson Silva a reason to care is not a good idea if your goal is to actually beat him. He seems to be the type of fighter that actually takes some stuff personally and takes out his frustrations in the cage. I think Sonnen will get a title shot, but he just gave Anderson Silva a reason to want to hurt him. Bad move bruddah.

Man Sonnen has been talking smack about Anderson since he was in the WEC. I really hope Nate puts the beatdown of his life on him. He beat a Paulo that looked like he was on acid. Other than that he flopped out of the UFC and came back in the WEC. He'll never get that title shot and after Nate deals with him we won't have to hear his BS anymore.

I think Soares got it all right - Chael is not a stupid guy and the only way he will get anybody talking about him is if he talks about the (arguably) best fighter in the world.

This is definitely all a publicity stunt, way to take a page from Ortiz's book Chael. I'm not buying into it.

I say we all turn our backs to this bull$hit and go back to remembering Sonnen as a mediocre fighter who will never get a title shot, especially after Marquardt beats the living dog crap out of him.

Nice try Sonnen

Does anyone else slightly wish that Nate loses simply so we can see Chael vs. Silva?

Don't get me wrong, Nate has become one of my favorite fighters, but I would love to see Silva beat the crap out of Sonnen.

No! I actually want to see Anderson get a run for his money. Nate has a better chance of doing that then Sonnen!

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam
