Gonzaga did a lot more damage to Carwin, should the fight have been stopped after GG broke Shane's nose?

It just is a frustrating situation to me, because Velasquez has all this hype around him but we only have basically two fights to go off of. One, where he was rocked hard but was matched up perfectly with his opponent and got a decision, and one where the fight never really had a conclusion.

Look at Carwin's big win in Gonzaga, Gonzaga had NO idea what happened and was out cold, he was finished. Dos Santos has outclassed and wrecked every opponent he's faced - there's no doubt who'd win the rematches there. Mir destroyed Kongo in seconds - which is Valesquez' only big win.
I have to disagree. Not with the JDS fight, but the Carwin/Gonzaga. Like I said, Carwin was getting beat in that fight standing and on the ground, he just caught Gonzaga. The problem with Carwin is that he likes to stand but really has no technical striking. He relies completely on his power. I think that Gonzaga was the better fighter that night by far besides Carwin's 1 punch KO which was all he really did that night.

Out of JDS, Velasquez, and Carwin, I think Carwin is the least deserving of a title shot. It made sense to match him up with Brock at the time, but it's been a long time since that Gonzaga win.

I want to agree with this... but Gonzaga has a tendency to win right before he loses. Look at both Werdum fights for example, he was soundly winning until he lost convincingly.

But I guess we have to ask, is Velasquez' early stoppage with no sub, no knockout, no real TKO but with a dominate performance equal to a not so great performance, followed by a spectacular and dominate KO?

I think that Cain's is better by far. He showed that he could dominate the entire fight anywhere the fight went. Carwin showed that he can KO someone at anytime, but he was the one being beaten. I think that winning a fight after dominating is better than winning after being dominated.
