Nog vs Mir - II - Who takes it

Due to Nog's staph infection shortly before their fight, there is a lot of controversy over how the fight may have gone. Also what both fighters have gone on to do well since.
Mir recently against Kongo, with a surprising knock out, not to mention he has phyically increased his size. Nog looked back to form against a game Randy.

Who do you guys see taking the rematch. I recently read a simlar thread on another forum and it was literally 50-50. Personally I still think Nog has what it takes to finish Mir. Not to say he would walk over him. Hard to say even where the fight would take place?

IMO Mir takes this UD or TKO 9/10 times, staph or not.

I think that mir is smart enough to know that going to the ground with nog isnt going to get him anywhere, but even if it did go to the ground I think mirs jiu jitsu would be good enough to avoid submissions until he was back on his feet.

That along with the fact that IMO mirs striking is far more effective than nogs, I dont think it matters how many times they fight, mir is a bad matchup for nog.

Fav Fighters

HW: Arlovski, CroCop, Mir
LHW: Wandy, Rampage, Liddell
MW: Marquardt, Silva, Franklin
WW: GSP, Hughes
LW: Penn

I think the same thing would happen. Staph infection or not, Nog's speed and reflexes are slowing and he gets hit a lot. Couture landed a few good shots on his chin and I could definitely see Frank Mir doing the same straight left - right uppercut combination that got him so much success back at UFC 92.

So I don't think much would change. Am I interested in seeing it? Sometime in the future, sure. We'll have to see how both guys do in their next fights.

Favourite Fighters:

Dan Hardy
Paul Daley
Georges St-Pierre
Nick Diaz
Cain Velasquez
Frank Mir
Demian Maia
All the British MMA guys
And... Fedor!

Yup totally agree i think we all learned something very valuable about that night Mir and Nog fought.... Mir KICKS HIS ASS, Nog has a rock for a chin and pulls off wins after getting put away over and over again, but he just cant Catch Frank on anything and Mir just hits to hard, infection or not, the infection didnt effect how good of a chin or how to dodge punches......

Mir would take him easily imo

I'm with the general consesus that Mir has the edge. Despite the first fight being ruined by staph I think Mir is just slighly better overall.

Both looked very good in their last fights, Nog beating the old man and Mir absolutely obliterated Kongo (wich makes me sad to see). Therefore, in ten imaginary fights I'd guess that Mir wins 6 or 7 of those 10.

I really don't think it made a difference. Mir would win just as convincingly as he did in the first fight.

As much as I hate to say it, Mir would probably take it via UD or crappy tko stoppage.

If it's the same Mir that beat Kongo then it's Mir hands down, all the way.

Gotta go with the concensus. Mir has better striking and he has enough skill/respect to avoid being submitted by Nog.
