This Is The Re-Watch: UFC 102: Couture vs Nogueira.

Dunham vs Aurelio was a fun scrap, that showed Dunham's striking, which was sloppy, but I liked it. Aurelio's voice is quite sugar tankey. I scored it 29-28 for Dunham. I gave the last round to Marcus. Not a great fight, but it was fun.

I liked Munoz vs Catone, but I have to admit, I couldn't care less for either guy, so it was hard to get motivated to watch this and get into it. Munoz just looks like one of those boring guys, who talks about his Pontiac non-stop.

Wow, that was a quick fight. Duffee smashes Hague, and actually breaks the decision pattern. Yikes, what a whomping. Duffee seems like one stupid oaf; the kind of guy when, feeling sad, would actually say "Duffee sad." His back tattoo is beyond ugly, too.

There were people at the weigh ins who called McCully the "American Fedor." I like their sense of humor, and I bet McCully believed it. Russow looks like a fat Ron Howard. My goodness, this guy is fat. I don't remember him being that fat. He has rolls on top of rolls, and they jiggle when they move. Just distracting. Oh, the fight sucked, by the way.

I admit, I was cracking up during Gonzaga's bout. What a nut shot. Rogan starts cracking jokes while Tush Purple Kush is recovering from a nutshot from hell. I loved the fake sincerity displayed by Mike Goldberg. Just awesome stuff from both, as they sounded as insincere as possible, and you can hear them snicker throughout. Tush, Tush Purple Kush then gets his head bashed afterwards.

I loved Simpson vs Herman. What a great performance from Simpson. The guy is in his 30's, and has an old school Diego performance, where he just does not stop coming. Herman has a good chin, and he almost got finished with strikes. Herman lands wrong on a nasty takedown, and then comes out and gets injured badly. First off, Herman's corner are morons for letting him go out there. Second, I love Aaron Simpson. Finally, I dug this fight.

Oh boy, it's Brandon Vera!!! Remember when he was actually relevant? Soszynski is decent, and his last name sucks to spell. This was one of those fights where the loser pushed the pace and got his shit pushed it. It's a lop sided, Brandon Vera decision. About as fun as it sounds.

Marquardt is a beast. Maia is a beast on the ground, and has awful striking. He throws this really weak high kick, that told you that he was toast in this fight. This was the easiest fight to predict, as Nate is just a way better fighter. I love Nate now, as he is all "Screw these guys, I am finishing all of them!" Dude is on a mission, for sure. Maia dives in and Nate punches his head off. Marquardt's a classy guy, too, as he could've been an ass and kept punching. Good grief, is that Wanderlei Silva? Ugh...

Rosholt is pretty ugly. He's also doofy. Leben looks much worse than he usually does. He gets torn up in this fight, both on the ground and in the stand-up. If Rosholt can get his ground game up, he could be something. He's no Nate "The Stone" Quarry, though.

I knew this wasn't going to go 15, and it definitely didn't. Jardine is the best bad fighter ever, though he got his head taken off. Jardine is also the best loser in the UFC. He has taken over the Varelans/Eilers role. He should never be cut. I am still not sold on Silva. I laughed at the teaching a chimp karate line by Rogan, and the "He's even unorthodox in the staredown" comment by Goldie. Jardine tweaks his nipple, and Negative2 gets a hard-on. He then loses and Negative2 cries.

And now, here's the reason to purchase this show. What a great fight and performance from Nogueira. Easily Nog's best UFC performance, and I'd say this was a top 5 Nog performance, as he was looked at as washed up coming in. I always wanted to see these 2 throw down, and this was the fight I wanted. Randy took a total shitkicking, as Nog whomped him in the stand-up and tooled him on the ground. He walked through Randy's punches, and showed better boxing and way more power. One judge gives Couture a pity round, which is fine with me. At least he didn't score the fight for him. Easy 30-27 win for Nog, though. I loved this. Top 5 for 2009.

The main event is the reason to see this show. Really fun main card, and some fun pre-lim fights. Good show.

Discuss.

As much as Nog owned the fight and it was by far his best performance in the UFC so far, I dont think he looked all that good in the Randy fight.

Congratulations you won!

For the same reasons Nog always looks bad. No head movement while striking, he looked very slow, yes slower then he usually does, got rocked a few times by Randy..........

Nog looked good in that fight just not as good as people have made that win out to be. But that will happen when he looked the worse he has in his whole career in his previous fight vs Mir.

Nog is simply better than Randy at everything Randy is good at, that is why he won that fight.

Congratulations you won!

I would say Nog is probably the greatest sweeper ever. Dude just flips guys whether its a Greco Wrestling champ like Randy or even the best GnP HW Fedor. Nog is a stud.

This was a fun fight to watch in a Pulver-Faber 1 type way. Completely outclassed but a fight to the decision.

He's a great sweeper, no doubt. His top game has always been ace, too.

Hell, I love Nog.

Nog's sweeps are why I'd be confident he'd beat Lesnar.

The Couture vs Nog fight is a GREAT example (sort of like Fedor vs Nog I, III) of how a decision win is 100x more convincing than a quick win. There's no debate about who'd win a rematch.

Plus Nog basically KO'd him in the first round then decision'd him later on.
