I didn't even notice AA grabbing the fence at the bar but I have been hearing all about it on here. I don't agree with anyone grabbing the fence for any reason because it is totally unfair to the fighters who make an effort NOT to grab the fence, but it is true that Cruz was done for after that CRACK in the jaw. I mean, if Cruz grabbed the fence to escape the TKO, would you all be saying, "Well it's just instinct it's no big deal". I highly doubt it. Fence grabbing is a double standard, it doesn't matter who does it for what reason, it is still against the rules and a completely unfair advantage to your opponent. In the words of pt447, it is a slippery slope. Keep going with that mindset and fights will be retarded with people blatantly grabbing the fence all fight long and claiming it's just instinct. I didn't see him grabbing the fence but I can hardly think that this situation was "instinct". It would have been instinct for Cruz to do it in that position but not AA. He was already in a dominant position about to win the fight so how would it be instinct to grab the fence? It would only be instinctive to use it to prevent damage or escape damage, not inflict damage
True, true. Most of you are saying it was ok because it's instinctive but it really seems you are saying it's ok because it's Arlovski. Grabbing the fence is hard to call accidental, I think fighters should be penalized when it happens.
