This. Their last event apart from the Diaz fight and Robbie knocking out Manhoef, was pretty bad, and not entertaining at all.

Just give them time.

It's also (arguably) good business to talk smack about your competitor, even if you don't want to publicly designate them as such.

damn dana, that is cold blooded right there, just no respect at all for sf huh?

well he isn't wrong in what he says but i know that sf has already begun to influence the way the ufc does business so he can't deny that at least and probably worries about the competition more than he lets on. Although it's smart to just write them off in public to make it seem like you don't care about them.

Uh, no? Their MW division might be almost as good as the UFCs, but keep in mind that a bunch of their good MWs were cut from the UFC (Diaz, Miller, Henderson, Smith and Lawler were all cut). I don't see entirely too much there talent wise outside of maybe 3 guys in Shields (who is a true WW), Diaz (who is now fighting at WW) and of course Henderson, who will probably tear through SFs MW division with relative ease.

Also, you know they have 8 light weights in their organization right? EIGHT. I'll agree with you that Thompson/Melendez is easily FoTY candidate but I've yet to see anything else explosive from their LWs outside of Melendez.

Regardless of what DW said, here are the facts:

1. SF is entertaining as all-get-out; not necessarily in the ways they intended, but it's still a VERY fun show to watch.

2. as much as people complain about UFC refereeing, what's up with SF? You stop a fight because a fighter isn't intelligently defending himself against armpit strikes?

3. Scott Coker will NEVER outwork Dana. NEVER. DW has a passion for this business which is simply unparalleled.

4. Fedor's legacy will always have a question mark, perhaps even a huge one, unless he competes in the UFC.

That is all.

Look at any of the rankings, 5 of the Top 6 HW's are in the UFC. Everyone other than Fedor.

Dana is full of it.
He's said it before, he's a fight promoter.
Of course he is going to say something like this and always put the UFC in the best possible light. No one is worth a damn as a fighter unless they are in the UFC. OK, yeah...sure...whatever.

Has Dana checked his Heavyweight division recently? Strikeforce Heavyweight division is completely on par with the UFC's currently, so I don't know where he is getting "lower level" and "guys who can't fight in the UFC" shit from. He makes it seem like SF has fighters who aren't good enough, which isn't true. StrikeForce has fighters that Dana is too cheap to go after and/or just don't want to fight in the UFC. (Hendo,Fedor,Mousasi,Diaz, etc.)

Well, he's right.

Many of us may love Strikeforce, but even the most ardent fan has to admit it has a much smaller following. And it probably always will, unless the UFC suddenly goes belly-up for unforeseen reasons.

I don't think the North American market can handle two promotions UFC's size. I doubt UFC thinks so, either.
