Yeah, fair point, in November of 08 when Lesnar fought Couture, the UFC HW division was pretty slim, but by the same token, back then the Strikeforce division was abysmal and basically non-existant, so it's abit of a moot point AFAIC.

Yeah but in the same point, SF's HW division is growing rapidly especially with their co-promotion. They look to add Josh Barnett, Andrei Arlovski, Monson, sometime this year.

When they add them, I'll be impressed. Until then, it's just hearsay. On a side note, Barnett will be lucky to ever legally fight in America anymore, anyway.

The UFC is unlikely to ever have ALL of the best talent in the world. If Strikeforce goes under, which isn't likely in the near future, there will be another organization to come up and meet M1's demands for Fedor/Moussasi.

The problem isn't having multiple organizations. The problem is that the UFC wants to put all competitors out of business. If Strikeforce continues to improve it's roster, the UFC will almost certainly still refuse to make a UFC/SF co promotion, even if they stand to make $$ and possibly delegitimize SF's title holders.

It probably won't be until Fedor retires or is defeated that the UFC truly has a chance to be the only game in town. Unless they cave into M1's demands that is.

I disagree with Dana on this one. Strikeforce isn't in my opinion a lesser promotion than the UFC, its just a lot newer.

How many promotions start out with top caliber fighters? Strikeforce has gotten better, obviously so. But I think it'll be quite some time before they can genuinely compete with the UFC in PPV and ticket sales. (Cuz after all its Dana White, in what way but money could he be talking)

I actually agree. I'm just saying that programming against it while saying he doesn't care = something smells. One of those 2 things must be a lie. That's all. I couldn't care less which org is better & all that stuff.

Agreed. SF is 100x more exciting and more stacked than UFC in it's infancy.

On Strikeforce as competition for the UFC

Dana White: "Yeah, I worry about Strikeforce all the time. Come on. Do you know how long I've been hearing about this? First it was Affliction and then it's somebody else. No, I don't worry about Strikeforce. Strikeforce is a lower-level show where guys who aren't in the UFC can go and make some money. It's never going to be anything more than that, ever."
sorry dana but strikeforce miami pwned 109
