Highly impressed with... [SPOILERS]

Melvin Guillard

Just finished watching his fight, and I have to say I am impressed, particularly with where he has come from. By the time most guys reach the UFC, they have nearly hit capacity of their talent. They will get better, but not 100% better typically. He is a great striker, and you can tell he left last time knowing he needed to learn to defend against submissions, and boy did he. The lightning fast mount at the close of round 3 was also highly impressive, as not many guys have the orientation while being slammed to grab the top that quickly.

While it wasn't the kind of performance that would make me run to my computer to post about typically (almost no performance makes me do that), just the level of improvement was amazing. Can't wait to see more from him.

I'm surprised he didn't blow the fight. He could develop into a good pop shot fighter in the future.

I definitely think he won it. He lost round one (which was reflected in the final score), but then he kept connecting his big blows in round 2 while continuously stuffing takedowns. Round 3 was a tiny bit closer than Round 2, since he got taken down once or twice and held down near the end, but again, he landed tons of unanswered blows, and ended in mount. I couldn't see him losing.

Close fight, but I was def impressed with Melvin improving.

Glad to see he didn't 'Diaz' himself.

Phil Davis was super impressive. Stann is a decent fighter and Davis destroyed him. I think I'm also going to try and grab a spot on the Paulo Thiago war wagon before while there are still seats left. He's got a good chin, good subs, and KO power.
