Ed Soares: Chael Sonnen should fight Demian Maia to determine number one contender

Quote:
We've spoken with Chael on many occasions and have the utmost respect for him. He's never really come across in this manner, and it's obvious he's just drumming up hype in hopes to get a bout with Anderson. We are fine if this is what the UFC wants, but if you look at this logistically, Sonnen should fight Demian Maia first. Demian beat up easily, by submission, so why not make them fight first, to determine who gets a shot at the title? It's funny, but really, who actually listens to what Chael Sonnen has to say? The only time people listen is when he talks about Anderson. Who is he, really? If you walk down the street and you mention his name, does anyone really know who this guy is? Likely not, but if you mention Anderson Silva, people know the name. Chael's also said a few things about Anderson's choice of clothes and that he wears earrings, didn't he? Sounds to us like he may have a crush on Anderson."

Soares really needs to just shut up and let the UFC book the fights, suddenly he doesn't want Anderson to fight anybody, Nate and Dan should fight, oh Nate and Sonnen now Chael and Demian, please shut your pile hole already Eddie.

I agree he should shut up. Neither Sonnen or Maia deserve to fight Anderson Silva. Just let the UFC make the fights.

The UFC MW division is a total mess right now.

Congratulations you won!

If only we had Hendo in the UFC...Then I know who I'd want to fight the champ next. I wouldn't mind a rematch for both Anderson and Vitor with Hendo. But then again, I bet Soares would complain about Hendo too, assuming Anderson wins. :/

In reply to JJ:

From a marketing perspective, yes. Seriously, are any of these fights really box office worthy main events:

1. Anderson vs. Yushin Okami

2. Anderson vs. Maia

3. Anderson vs. Sonnen
...

You get the picture.

I wish Anderson would move up to 205 so we could see some true bad azz fights. And didn't Anderson call out Frank Mur a while back?

He's just looking out for his guy. Sonnen isn't a big fight for Anderson, a win over Maia would give him more hype. No need to get all agitated, I'm sure the UFC doesn't take Ed Soares' opinion into consideration when they're booking fights.

Rich Franklin is better then everybody not in the next MW title fight and i still think he could beat Belfort. He needs to stop jerking around with his career at franklin weight and make a return to the only division he has a chance at being champion in JMO

All the guys at Blackhouse are pissed at Mir for his destruction of Big Nog.

I would also like Silva to fight at 205 but that makes 3 Blackhouse guys at 205. All are top 10 contenders and wont fight each other. Kinda lame to have 3 top guys all not willing to fight each other.

Congratulations you won!

How can you say the guy who just dominated the guy who was ranked #4 in the MW division and then followed that up by dominating the number 2 or 3 MW, I can see why people don't want to see it or why they don't like Chael but Im dumbfounded as to how anyone could say he doesn't deserve the fight when infact he deserves it or then anyoen in the division.

My blood pressure is up right now after reading just the title of this thread, and I needed to take one minute to calm down before I posted.

Now that's I'm calmer, I officially hate Ed Soares now and he really needs to shut his freaking hole and simply manage his fighters instead of trying to take Joe Silva's job.

I mean first he gave Hendo shit, then he gave Belfort shit, now Sonnen? That's way more than willing to stomach and really don't understand his stance he's been taking during the last few months.

Edit:
Also you guys who say he's looking out for his guy, fair enough, but think back about how Anderson got the title. One fight against Chris, and then straight to franklin. So Ed shouldn't go around saying this or that fighter doesn't deserve the title when he's own guy only had one fight before his title shot.

To be worthy apparently you have to eliinate anybody who could be a future contender. Silly me I thought clearing out the divisiob was supposed to be the champs job.
