yes Cain is somewhat of a BJJ prodigy considering he is pretty new to it and has a lower level world championship under his belt. I would consider that more legit then some guys with black belts but they never enter competitions or prove it in the ring.

Im trying to find an interview where Cain discussed perhaps getting his brown belt before the Nog fight as one of his goals, not sure if he achieved his goal, maybe we will hear news on that in the coming weeks, announcing belts seem to be a popular thing to do a day or 2 bfore the fight, not sure why.

Literally on every site, nobody ever mentions Cains bjj skills. Its such a weird thing that nobody seems to realize, Cain puts in work.

Honestly, ill be really surprised if Nog subs him. I know ill get flamed but his BJJ isnt the best and he relies heavily on taking alot of punishment and ppl gassing and making mistakes, two things Cain doesnt really seem to do is gas or give up position on the ground. JMO of course Nog has been thru wars before Cain even started his MMA career so no doubt i could see him finding a way to find out of sheer experience and heart, i just feel its a really good stylistic matchup for Cain, Nog wont hurt him on the feet imo and he will be comfortable on the ground, we shall see and im REALLY excited to find out, either way a great learning experience for Cain.

Man! Nog is the sh*t! I admire that guy. Was my favorite coach ever on TUF. The guys all class. IDK though, id probably put my money on Cain to win even though id rather see Nog take it. Cain is younger, stronger, never seems to get tired. There are only so many subs you can pull off, off your back and I dont see Cain getting subbed but I do see him almost getting subbed maybe more than a couple of times. Looking forward to this one.

So it would be surprising to you if one of the best MMA submission artists was to pull off a submission against, what was it, a purple bet? lol

interesting logic,

I can see Nog loosing, sure. Maybe he will get GnP ala Brock Lesner style. But I sure as hell wont be surprised when cain gets Anaconda chocked out and goes a wonderfull shade of purple.

Cain will destroy him IMO. He will keep it standing and either tko or decision Nog. I think Nog is done.

I disagree, Nog looked fantastic in the Couture fight. Seemed a warrior reborn. Stand up I put heavily in Nogs favor. IMO Cain's gonna want to take this to the ground. I know Nog's got slick BJJ but it just doesn't happen too often anymore that you see submissions off of one's back.

But I'm callin it Nog by sub or UD.

Tried to Rep you alizio but gots ta spread er around a bit first.

theres guys with purple belts from joe blow down the street and then theres guy who have elite wrestling backgrounds who know already before learning BJJ how to control ppl and maintain position on the ground then they go out and in 17 months become a BJJ world champion at any level?? Cain isnt Big Timmy, Schilt or Mirko, he has VERY LEGIT grappling background coupled with being a bjj prodigy.

To simply dismiss it as "some purple belt gonna stop Big Nogs BJJ LOL" is a pretty simplistic way to look at it. Nog usually takes beatings to sub guys without much BJJ or grappling skills, Cain is gonna be much harder to do and i would say it would be by far his most impressive sub of his career, not name wise since obv Cain isnt the name Mirko once was but skillwise, Cains skillset makes it look like he will be very hard to sub, high level wrestling + high level purple belt + amazing cardio.

o well, we wont have to wait long to see. Cain deserves more respect from alot of ppl then he is getting, the hype isnt for nothing and it isnt from fanboys, its from his camp and ppl that trained with him.

like i said, ill take the purple belt with a world championship tourny win under his belt before i take say Rashad Evans and his black belt seriously.

He looked great on the ground. I thought he looked terrible standing up. The thing is, is that Randy was even worse making Nog look like a good striker.

Cain by decision because Nog can take a beating. Cain will always be in position to negate the sub and he will outwork Nog on the ground for 15 mins. Nog has looked slow against younger opponents since his return to the UFC and this is Cain freakin Valesquez(sp)

A groan of tedium escapes me...

Yeah I say Nog takes this one against Cain, he'll otustrike Cain on the feet and be dangerous on the ground. I have a feeling though that Cain won't be in a hurry to get this one to the ground.

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig
