They may have in the past, the only rounds I really broke down second by second were the first two. I assumed or didn't care about the next three because most people easily gave the 4th and 5th rounds to shogun. Since they got the first two right I didn't really follow up on the rest.

But really what I would like to know is how you can give the first two rounds to machida? Up front its possible by obvious mistake, but it becomes apparent both rounds clearly were won by shogun. What did machida do better than shogun? Point wise how could he have won either of the first two rounds? Something I have yet to understand what so ever.

What gets me about this decision is that it was almost entirely a striking match, I could much easier understand the "bisping hammill" decision as compared to this.

Edit: I just got back from google. Apparently many people have challenged fightmetrics and their scoring. None have discredited them with any facts, and in fact many people believe it to be the most accurate not-biased information about the fights they cover. Since by your accounts they are "discredited" could you please show me why you think so and any evidence or fact on the subject since others have failed in that department?
Double post.

In fact scratch this entire argument. Its beating a dead horse and we aren't going to get anywhere with it. Its been discussed and its over.

Omg guys please STOP now!!!

this thread isn't about the Shogun fight. It has nothing to do with it! I made this thread to finally point out, that Lyoto Machida is one of the greatest Takedown and TDD artists in the whole MMA. Even close to GSP (who many name as the best in the world.

So please get back to the original topic. The scoring of his last bout was already discussed numerous times.. and everybody scored it different, because it was a damn close fight wich could haven gone either way!!!

Ok guys please lets talk about the Topic again thanks

Calm down bob. We've already decided to stop... see above!

I only bought up Shogun with reference to the initial knee kick on Soujokoukouko... which dropped him like a sack of spuds. But didnt drop Rua. I wont say anymore about that fight.... except to agree with you... Machida does some amazing and subtle shit all the time. It takes posts like yours to remind us that we are witnessing a master. * hugs *

It cant be helped Bob. The two of them are tied together in history. Showing all this cool stuff that Lyoto has been doing to fighters is great, but it will immediately draw respect to Rua from me... because he went 5 rounds with this crazy dude you've highlighted and didnt provide us with humiliating gifs to drool over. Dont you see? I cant discuss Machida without Shogun playing a part in my answers! They are welded together until the rematch.

Yup, love me some Machida TDD. I was reading some other shitty, MMA forum that shall not be named and some clown was saying how Couture matches up well with Machida because...Machida has poor wrestling??

By the way, that Gif of BJ Penn getting skanked is incredible. What are those trips from? Karate? They remind me of Aikido.

I would assume the trips come from his karate backround as Fedor uses them on ocation as well.(how he got off the cage against rogers)
