UK Fighters: How far can they go?

More specifically Hardy, Bisping, Pearson and Daley.

These four are the best prospects we've had in the UFC since i became a fan of the sport and i'd doubt i'd be wrong if i suggested they are the best we've had full stop.

How do you (British, American or any nationality) rate each fighters chances in their respective weigh division? Do you see any potential champions or titles challengers here?

Cheers.

I don't think Hardy is gonna beat GSP, not right now anyway. He's still a fantastic prospect though, and I think he's got a long career ahead of him in the UFC.

Bisping, I'm interested to see how he fares against Wand, I was very impressed with his last fight against Kang and I think he's just gonna get better. Whether or not he's a real contender is yet to be seen, especially in his new weight class, again, time will tell.

Ross Pearson will do very well I think, he's got great size for his class and I think he'll make real waves in the division, I'm sure he's praying BJ moves to WW though.

Paul Daley is probably the best prospect of them all at the moment, he's a fantastic striker, he's just gotta ensure he makes weight though.

Well they have two arms, two legs, a head and a heart, just like the americans. Therefore, theoretically, they can go just as far.

As for the three guys mentioned, neither Paul nor Hardy has a very big chance against GSP. Bisping would probably not fare very well against A. Silva. So in the near future the chances of getting a UK belt in the UFC are not that high. However all 3 of them are or could potentially position themselfs in the top 5 of their divisions.

Don't worry, I'm 100% sure we will see a UK fighter holding the belt sometime in the next 5 years! The quality of Uk fighters has increased exponentially in the last couple of years, and while this rapid evolvment will slow down a little (everything progresses faster in the beginning) I'm sure the quality will continue to improve and we see more exciting guys wearing the british colors!

Agree with Nefilim. Daley's the best prospect of all the Brits, probably followed by Bisping for me. Daley's arguably the best striker at 170 and if he develops his game sufficiently to avoid GSP's wrestling then he could seriously challenge the title. Hopefully he'll knock Koscheck out and get himself a title shot after Hardy.

I feel that Terry Etim's a better prospect than Ross Pearson at 155 too. Pearson looked excellent against Aaron Riley, but Etim's riding a 4 fight win streak in the UFC with wins over Sam Stout, Brian Cobb, Justin Buchholz and Shannon Gugerty. He has 3 submission of the night awards, and has finished his last 3 opponents. At just 24 years old he is a real prospect, excited to see how far he goes.

Well said! For those reasons I really like Etim. Also I like him for the same reasons I like Stefan Struve, Dustin Hazelett and Tamdan McCrory. They have unusual body types for fighters, yet they make it work for them, and in the process they get a different fighting style.

I don't see Bisping ever holding a belt, I just don't think he has the quality to get that far.

Hardy will lose to GSP, unfortunately, but I think he is going to be awesome in the division, just can't get past number 1 contender spot.

Daley is a beast, I think the guy is a knob personally, but his hands are awesome, I really would like to see him in trouble on his back though, so we know what he can do on the ground. If he misses weight again, I'm going to be pissed, that annoys the hell out of me when fighters do that, no excuse.

Now Pearson, he's the man, I am so bias, but the dude is great. His hands looked AWESOM against Riley and I don't think Silver is going to be a problem for him either.

Etim I also enjoy and am looking forward to him in future - Dude can finish fights with his fists or submissions.

The one guy I'm really looking forward to watch progress over the coming years is Ross Pearson, I think he has more improving power and speed to anyone in the LW division, if they continue to ease him in gently as he continues to improve and dont rush in into a big fight before he is ready then I can't see anyone more likely to raise to the top.

I think over the next 2 years we could be looking at the rise of the future LW champion

Hardy might hold the belt once GSP moves to MW, but the best fighter out of all of them in the end will probably be Daley, I dont see Bisping holding the belt anytime soon either..

Nah I think if GSP moves to MW then BJ will move to WW and I can't see Hardy beating BJ.
